Deze week en duurt zowel Samsung als Seagate heeft aangekondigd zij Terabyte harde aandrijving zullen aanbieden.

Seagate kondigde twee modellen, Barracuda ES.2 voor de onderneming en Barracuda 7200.11 voor consumenten aan. Beide aandrijving zal 7.200 snelheden van de t/minrotatie, tot 32 MB van geheim voorgeheugen aanbieden, streeft het gemiddelde naar tijden van 8.5 milliseconden - zij zouden in het derde trimester moeten verschepen.

Barracuda ES.2 heeft een (SAS) interface SCSI serie in bijlage samen met standaard Periodieke ATA. Volgens Seagate zal dit een 20 percentenvermindering van totale machtsconsumptie over vroegere aandrijving aanbieden. Seagate nam nota van de ES.2 verhogingenbetrouwbaarheid met een industrie-beste unrecoverable foutentarief dat 10 keer dan beter Desktop-klasse aandrijving is.

Een paar interesserende vooruitgang zal in sommige van deze aandrijving verbergen. Bijvoorbeeld van het de aandrijvingsgebruik van Seagate de nieuwe loodrechte opname in plaats van longitudinaal. De loodrechte opname laat dat magnetische lasten toe worden opgeslagen verticaal op een schotel, die een hogere opslagdichtheid verstrekt

Sorry for the prolonged period of silence on my blog, everyone. I can assure you that all is still well in the world of Virtualization. I’m working on a series of posts that will focus on the Virtualization technologies in Longhorn Server, but we’re not ready to talk about it quite yet. Anyway, on to the topic of this post.
One of the really interesting things about talking with customers is the wide range of responses you get to the same questions. In this case, I’ve talked to quite a few people about whether or not they liked the web-based management tool for Virtual Server. It’s something that a lot of people feel passionate about, but the wierd thing is that it’s pretty much half-and-half.

Half of the people prefer a web-based management story to a Windows-based application, and the other half prefer the exact opposite.
Of course, there’s no pleasing all of the people all of the time, but it just so happens that there’s a way to ease some of the pain.

Windows Live Folders and Windows Live Photo Gallery are set to begin limited managed betas, according to an announcement by Microsoft today. Windows Live Folders, which we showed you when it briefly popped up back in May, is the first attempt at a “storage in the cloud” service for Windows Live. The beta will provide 500mb of online storage at no charge, with a 50mb individual file size cap. I talked to Chris Jones, Corporate Vice President, Windows Live Experience Program Management, who showed me around Folders and Photo Gallery, and while he expects Folders to be used for document storage, and not music, photo, or video storage, he expects Microsoft to be “very competitive” in the storage space they provide.

Windows Live Photo Gallery is a new product, an “upgrade” from the Windows Photo Gallery that comes with Vista, and which will be available as a free download for Windows XP SP2 as well. Windows Live Photo Gallery will provide enhancements, such as a stitching tool, and will make posting photos to Spaces, or Soapbox for videos, far easier than it is today.

Microsoft this evening is announcing the managed beta of Windows Live Photo Gallery - an upgrade to the existing Windows Photo Gallery that currently ships with Windows Vista. This is part of a broader announcement of renewed focus on Software+Services with Windows Live.

Windows Live Photo Gallery includes all of the features of Windows Photo Gallery in Windows Vista - but extends the experience by adding new functionality as well as integration with Windows Live services such as Windows Live Spaces. Here is a list of a few new things you’ll find in the initial beta release of Windows Live Photo Gallery:

• Improved image editing features like Panoramic stitch, histogram, and sharpen image.
• Improved tagging and organization including the ability to quickly sort by name, file type, tag or date.
• Publish photos directly to your photo galleries on Windows Live Spaces.
• Auto event grouping and tagging when importing photos (and video) from your camera to PC.
• Improved Photo Import Tool.
