Unpublished Microsoft Interviewing Tips

Chris Sells, one of my favorite Microsoftie, puts out 6 bulleted list of unpublished tips on getting interviewed at Microsoft. Here are those at a glimpse,

  • Your interviewer cares most about 1) how you think and 2) what you feel, so be vocal about both.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask clarifying questions.
  • Let the interviewer know how you feel about the job.
  • Answer questions from your own experiences.
  • You have to like us, too.
  • Don’t talk about money during the interview.

New SysInternals Tool: Active Directory Explorer

Mark Russinovich and Bryce Cogswell have released their first major utility since Sysinternals was purchased by Microsoft. The tool named Active Directory Explorer 1.0 allows you to browse through raw Active Directory data.

Active Directory Explorer

It is the perfect tool to use when writing scripts that access Active Directory via LDAP queries. It allows you to find fields that you never even knew existed.

Additionally it allows you to save snapshots of an Active Directory database for offline viewing and comparison. When you load a saved snapshot you can browse it as if you were connected to an Active Directory server.

Now, I think it’s realistic to say that there’s going to be more people who want to install linux onto a Windows PC than Windows onto a Linux system, but since a number of people contacted me privately by email asking for pointers, I still think that there’s an audience for this kind of information (most seem to want to set up Windows on a Linux PC so that they can play games on the system).

Installing vista onto a system that already has a Linux distro installed (say, for example, Ubuntu) isn’t difficult as such, but it certainly is more complicated than adding a Linux partition to a drive with
