INCURSION

Je me penche vers…

Wallpaper Manager

The Wallpaper Manager is a Proof of Concept WPF application I built using Expression Blend and Visual Studio .NET 2008 (Codename Orcas). The application exists as a Windows Presentation Foundation XAML form application that is designed to provide users with the ability to control their desktop wallpaper by cascading over specified directories and allowing users to quickly browse, change and establish timed transitions between wallpaper.

Note that you will be prompted to install the .NET framework Beta 3.5. There is a feature of the .NET Framework 3.5 beta that will allow it to get updates as newer and finally RTM bits are released.

PC Mag Editor Throws in the Towel on Vista

Vista LogoMaybe it was something in the water? I’ve been a big proponent of the new OS over the past few months, even going so far as loading it onto most of my computers and spending hours tweaking and optimizing it. So why, nine months after launch, am I so frustrated? The litany of what doesn’t work and what still frustrates me stretches on endlessly.

I could go on and on about the lack of drivers, the bizarre wake-up rituals, the strange and nonreproducible system quirks, and more. But I won’t bore you with the details. The upshot is that even after nine months, Vista just ain’t cutting it. I definitely gave Microsoft too much of a free pass on this operating system: I expected it to get the kinks worked out more quickly. Boy, was I fooled! If Microsoft can’t get Vista working, I might just do the unthinkable: I might move to Linux.

Memory Card PS2/Two Modchip in Action!

The first ever video of the Vast for PS2/Two booting. Vast is a revolutionary new mod chip for PS2/Two but in plug and play memory card form, no soldering, no opening of the case, absolutely nothing is required except to plug in the vast memory card!

The video shows the Vast booting on a PS2 system which has its shell off to show that they have not installed a mod chip or performing any kind of trickery. The team tries a backup Game Disc without the memory card and show it not booting, then they plug in the Vast memory card and the disc is recognized and can be run by pushing start from the menu.

Furthermore, the team state there is plenty more to come and the Vast can do much more. They hint at a fast boot mode which is FASTER than the PS2 booting an original game as well as confirming the mod is fully upgradeable. Final version specifications and more information is to be revealed in a few days – so stay tuned!
