Trick To Increase Browsing Speed for IE and Firefox

You really don’t need to tweak your browser in case you are using Firefox because it is a browser which has been specially designed for optimized and fast browsing but if you can make it even a little more fast that would certainly be a treat for you. Likewise there is a trick to make Internet Explorer 6 fast too. Browsers are designed to work with fast connections but with this trick even dial-up users can experience fast and smooth browsing.

Optimize Firefox and IE Browsing Speed

I shall be teaching you two tricks which work separately on Firefox and Internet Explorer. It doesn’t require you to be some expert rather all you have to do is change some registry values and you are done. I have also included a video tutorial for those who want to see it step by step visually. This is perhaps one of the oldest tricks to optimize Firefox and IE but it still works great. (more…)

Stream Music On Demand with Deezer for FREE

Streaming online radio service Deezer is like Pandora on steroids. Search for songs, create playlists, randomly stream songs or listen to the top 10 in the US and UK. Though Deezer will not have every song you search for, it does have a very large and diverse collection, so it’s perfect for parties. Best of all, there is no need to register. I think I’m in love! If nothing can top your music collection, here’s how you can stream your own music collection.

Windows Vista SP1 6001.16633 Review

As mentioned last week a new version of Vista SP1 was released to testers, 6001.16633.070803-1655. This version is a standalone update pack that can be installed in any edition of Vista RTM and is not a fully integrated SP1 ISO unlike the previously released 6001.16549, so let’s take a look what this version contains.

Here is the .exe file as it was delivered;

If we unpack it, we see that this version contains the following updates;

windows6.0-kb935509-X86 219 KB (UnPacked: 229 KB)
windows6.0-kb936330-X86 694 211 KB
(UnPacked: 1,68 GB)
windows6.0-kb937287-X86 3 999 KB
(UnPacked: 14,2 MB)
windows6.0-kb937954-X86 62 KB
(UnPacked: 169 KB)
windows6.0-kb938371-X86 2 281 KB
(UnPacked: 2,56 MB)

As you can see this is 1 more than the previous version, KB935509 and KB937954 is new. KB937286 is removed from this version. Unpacked this Service Pack is enormous, just over 1,7GB.

So lets install it and see how it looks :)

The installation process involves no less than 3 restarts before it’s done….

As already mentioned the build number has changed, also the the Service Pack version is upgraded, now we are at v.249

And as we know these are the installed updates;

A quick look at Windows Update, shows us that all the latest updates are installed

A more comprehensive post will be made tomorrow when I’ve had the chance to look more thorough at it, untill then this is all I have….

System Center Configuration Manager 2007 RTM - Evaluation Software

As mentioned yesterday SCCM 2007 is RTM, Microsoft has now made an 120-days evaluation available for download.

System Center Configuration Manager – previously Systems Management Server – represents a tremendous advance over its well-regarded predecessor, now providing the control necessary to more effectively manage change in today’s dynamic IT infrastructures. Manage the full deployment and update lifecycle with, streamlined, policy-based automation; with enhanced insight into, and control over, assets and systems compliance; and with optimization for Windows – particularly Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista – and extensibility to customized administration experiences and third party applications. These robust capabilities can be used to manage servers, clients and handheld devices, across physical, virtual, distributed, or mobile systems — all from a single, familiar console. Built on key Microsoft technologies such as Microsoft Update,, Active Directory, and the Windows architecture, and leveraging System Center’s knowledge-driven IT management, System Center Configuration Manager helps administrators minimize the number of OS images to manage, makes it easier to define and track systems compliance, and improve systems performance and security.
