Microsoft has disclosed a vulnerability in Vista and IE7 that could result in information disclosure. The vulnerability is in the way Windows resolves hostnames that do not include a fully-qualified domain name (FQDN). The Microsoft Security Response Center says they know of no current attacks. The Security Advisory (945713) lists a number of ‘Mitigating Factors’ that can help work around this problem, but you can expect they are working on an update to deal with it properly.
