There aren’t too many Vista themes designed with the color gold, but this one really works well. It’s just a simple modification but it looks good. This theme would be best suited for a business environment because it would brighten up your desktop.

A nice set of icons that feature things related to the city life. My favorite is the hot dog stand. This pack includes 16 icons in all. This icon pack will definitely get some attention at the office.

File Types
This tab contains a list of all the file types that Windows knows about and which programs are configured to open them if you double-click on their icons.

As the image shows, if a .doc document is double-clicked on it will open in MS Word. You can change the program that is associated with a file type by selecting its entry and pressing the ‘Change…’ button.

Occasionally you might want to delete file types from the list, if you do not use files of a certain type any more. Highlight the entry for the file type and press the ‘Delete’ button. This will reduce the size of the Registry (a file that contains most of the settings for Windows and other applications), but not by enough to have a significant impact on performance. So, the chances are that you will probably want to leave this list alone.

There is an option to create a new file type for the list, using the ‘New’ button, but frankly, you are better off just double clicking on…

It’s not very often you find a job advertisement which doesn’t tantalize your curiosity, so it’s only to fair to take the following with a grain of salt. This Microsoft job posting for a “user experience designer” was published on the 23rd of February 2008.

The focus of the job description refers to a startup project inside Microsoft called Tangram. What they aim to achieve with the technology is intriguing at the least.

The Tangram team provides an opportunity to work on the engineering challenges of an Internet scale services technology coupled with 3D interactive experiences that have finally become possible due to ultrahigh resolution screens and high performance processors. We are changing what people expect from the Internet by delivering entirely new ways to see, interact with and use data of deep interest to consumers and business people. This is a project with high visibility in Microsoft. We are assembling a team of world class engineers with very strong analytical and technical skills. We are looking for people who can define the problem, come up with a solution, and implement it. End to end. Ship it in 6 months.
