Configure your startup programs in Windows Vista

You can do this by editing the startup list using the System Configuration utility. You can do this by typing system configuration or msconfig in the Start Menu search field and press enter.

Once this opens up you will be able to see several tabs: General, Boot, Services, Startup and Tools. Click on the Startup tab and you will see the programs that are loaded at each Windows startup.

Now from the list you can choose whatever program you want to disable or remove from startup list. Its better you don't disable any important system components or drivers. This might damage the functionality of the operating system. If you are not sure on what you are doing it is better not to disable any startup programs.

If you still want to proceed and disable unwanted startup programs, then just uncheck the small box from the left side of the appropriate programs. After you have done, click Apply and/or OK.
