British Library Icons - Free Download

British Library Icons
A set of five Vista icons that is sure to bring the old world charm back. This set includes such classics like a typewriter, globe and wooden garbage can. I love icons like these because they bring us back to a time when patience was common place and everybody took time to relax. A far cry from todays world.

So What has the Lazy Admin been up to?

The Lazy Admin has not been as lazy as he seems.

I have been hard at work writing on all sorts of projects that unfortunately take away from my TLA writing time. I just wanted to let everyone know that a good deal of the stuff I have worked on is now available!

Here are some of the projects.

1) The Microsoft Solutions Accelerator team has been hard at work writing amazing guidance documents about Windows Servers architectures . They are just the sort of compact to the point document Lazy Admin's everywhere will appreciate.

You can check out the guides online at: www.microsoft.com/ipd or download them at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=AD3921FB-8224-4681-9064-075FDF042B0C&displaylang=en

The guides also come with a nifty PowerPoint presentation so after you finish learning about architecture of these services you can present them to all your great new knowledge to your colleagues.

2) I have also contributed on a book about Microsoft Forefront technologies: now available on Amazon and books stores

3) I have also been involved with The Vista Spring Board program, This is a really great resource for ITpros looking to get information about Windows Vista. The site is organized so that you can get

Get Ready for Vista SP1

Get Ready for Vista SP1 upgrade

  • Get the SP1 piece by piece
I download the standalone update packs for the SP1 Upgrade. Be Sure to check that it¡¯s OK by verifying the MD5 hash for : 32-bit (434MB): d597866e93bc8f80ecca234c4e9ce5a2 and 64-bit (726MB): 983308426e8ee7649f53b41f4e5c42d4

Then after getting the standalone packs you want burn them onto CDs, or onto a USB flash drive then update.
For a much easier approach a Windows Automation Installation Kit would be of great help.

  • Check out the SP1 deployment guide
  • Backup Before Updating

Best move is to backup any data before proceeding with any major update, who knows what wonders it would do to your system and also your data. Prevention is better than a cure. Plan for the worst, and prepare for war!

  • Get rid of the SP1 beta

If you got the SP1 beta installed, well you need to uninstall it before installing the final version.

You can uninstall by going to the Control Panel and find Programs and Features and select View installed updates. Under Windows look for Service Pack for Microsoft Windows (KB936330) and uninstall it, well if it¡¯s not there proceed as planned.

  • Check for incompatible applications
Check for incompatible applications and update if necessary before
