I’ve switched my default browser to Apple Safari

image

Following the footsteps of Sahil Malik, I tried Safari for real and got impressed and got switched as well. The cool thing I like the most on Safari is its font rendering. For the most part you won’t make out big differences but on many instances I was able to and that got dragged me into this. Of course, there is the “Speed of Safari”. You’ve got to try it to believe it. Most of the pages are a lot faster than what it used to take to load those pages on Firefox and IE. Even though I miss some of the cool add-ons on Firefox I think I can live with Safari for the most part and when in need of those add-ons I can switch to Firefox which I think would be minimal.

So, what is your default browser? Any idea of switching? If not, what holds you?

Download Safari 3.1 from here.

Simple Tabbed Box using CSS

image

I apologize, it’s been a while since I’ve posted on to WinDev. Even though, for some, this would be considered off-topic for WinDev I wanted to get this to WinDev and I’m sure it would be helpful to someone. The part that triggered me to post this to WinDev is its simplicity. Well, let me reveal. Here is a simple article on how to create tabbed boxes with YUI tabs. Tabbed Bars are nothing but tabs like what you might have seen on most of the web sites that helps aide in navigation. This tutorial outlines 3 simple steps to get a clean little tabbed interface.

It has around 10 lines of JavaScript includes, approximately 25 lines of your HTML (this depends on your need) and around 45 lines of CSS. That simple.

Here is the full article.

Stfngdvw Toolbar Removal Instructions

Stfngdvw Toolbar, or simply known as Stfngdvw, is just another new variant of the notorious zlob clone toolbar. Stfngdvw Toolbar usually gets installed onto your PC without your notice, through Trojan, malware and virus (or you could get it by installing a fake video codec), then Stfngdvw Toolbar directly or indirectly promotes rogue antispyware products. Stfngdvw Toolbar will cause your computer to perform sluggishly, which makes you believe that your computer is affected by spyware so you would purchase the products that they promoted.

We would highly recommend you to remove Stfngdvw Toolbar manually, if possible. It’s free! Spending money on a removal tool is unwise, but that might be last option if you have any technical difficulties remove it manually. Lastly but most importantly, please back up your data before any modification to your system. Good luck!

vLite 1.1.5 Beta Out!

vLite is a tool for customizing the Windows Vista installation before actually installing it. Main features are:

  • hotfix, language pack and driver integration
  • component removal
  • unattended setup
  • tweaks
  • split/merge Vista installation CDs
  • create ISO and burn bootable CD/DVD
Windows Vista from Microsoft takes a lot of resources, we all know that. vLite provides you with an easy removal of the unwanted components in order to make Vista run faster and to your liking. This tool doesn't use any kind of hacking, all files and registry entries are protected as they would be if you install the unedited version only with the changes you select. It configures the installation directly before the installation, meaning you'll have to remake the ISO and reinstall it. This method is much cleaner, not to mention easier and more logical than doing it after installation on every reinstall. Changelog:
  • new: 'Character Map'
  • new: 'DHCP'
  • new: 'Disk Cleanup'
  • new: 'Distributed Transaction Coordinator (DTC)'
  • new: 'Interactive Services Detection'
  • new: 'Notepad'
  • new: 'Photo Metadata Handler'
  • new: 'Quality Windows Audio Video Experience'
  • new: 'TV Tuners'
  • new: 'Windows Ultimate Extras'
  • new: More Languages removable
  • upd: Universal preset files (old non-English will not load)

Check your Windows Vista Activation Status

There is a utility in Windows Vista that will help you check the status of activation of your computer:

1.Click on start, type in CMD and press enter.
Windows Vista also equipped with a Software Licensing Manager (SLMgr) command-line based scripting tool that can help to check and verify the activation status or license status of installed Vista.

2. This can be done by typing "slmgr -xpr" in the command prompt opened.
This will show expiration date of current license if your vista copy is not activated and if it is activated then it would show the following.

There are more two command that would display license information.

slmgr.vbs -dli
slmgr.vbs -dlv
This would give you detailed information about your
license.
