Origami Experience 2.0 Part 2: RSS

Two weeks ago, I talked about the new Web Browsing capabilities in Origami Central, one of the three apps in the Origami Experience 2.0 software. That was Part 1 of a 4-part series showcasing the new features of the Origami Experience 2.0 software for Ultra Mobile PCs. Here in Part 2, I am going to talk about the new RSS features also in Origami Central.

In browsing the web in Origami Central on my UMPC, I can quickly subscribe to a RSS feed on any website.

Origami Central uses the Windows RSS Platform and the Common Feed List from IE7 for its RSS feeds. Feeds I subscribe to in Origami Central or in IE7 will appear in the Common Feed List. What this means essentially is that Origami Central and IE7 share the same RSS feeds.

When accessing my subscribed feeds in Origami Central, I'm brought into the All Feeds screen. The UI uses large graphic icons making it better to use the touch features when navigating between feeds and folders with feeds inside them. The black icons are folders with feeds inside them and the white

M11 Final V1 Theme - Free Download

This is a cool Vista theme. Again it has the aero features like most of the themes, but this one has changed the overall feel by changing the colors to a more muted look. I love the cool green background and how it fits into the theme.

Are you still using Windows XP? If you are, then you have to download the XP Theme Patcher. If you’re using Windows Vista, you don’t need the Theme Patcher.

Clocktopia Sidebar - Free Download

These sidebar clocks are way better then the stock clocks that come with Vista. I like the variety and how sleek all the clocks look. My favorite is the blue one because I think it’s the most unique. I’m so glad I found these widgets, as my desktop has been suffering from the “boring” syndrome.

Silver n Glass Sidebar - Free Download

This is our first Vista sidebar post, so we hope you like it. We know that a lot of the themes we feature on our site don’t include the sidebars, but now we are featuring the best themes on the web. This theme has a great glassy look with a cool black symbol at the bottom. I think this sidebar is a great start to our new section.

Update your DNS Server - NOW!

I have been struggling with a strange DNS issue on my network for the last month. I have tried everything under the sun, and nothing has worked. The problem was that many times you would need to go to a site twice before it would resolve properly.

Then I heard yesterday that ICANN (The organization that handles the core DNS system for the internet) released a statement back in 2007. The short of what they are saying is that one of the 12 root servers is going to have a different IP address.

This didn't make it to the major news outlets as breaking news (surprise surprise) because something like this is as interesting as watching paint dry.

This means that most administrators had no idea that the IP address had changed (Including me)

I started thinking that this could be the actual cause of my strange DNS issue. I decided to check my DNS server and see if it automatically updated - and of course it did not.

It would seem like a simple change, but this has never happened before. Those 12 servers have had the same IP addresses...
