There are dangerous PDF files being circulated by spammers. The new PDF based attacks typically use Javascript attacks within the document to infect vulnerable systems. Users should always avoid opening any unexpected document or link in email messages. Also, it is important to stay up-to-date on all security updates available from Adobe and other software vendors.

The malware involved in this spam run is detected by Trend Micro as TROJ_PIDIEF.JT, a Trojan that arrives as a PDF file named DOC.PDF. This file promises more information regarding the alleged Internet death.

PIDIEF Trojans are known malware droppers or downloaders, so once users click on the attached PDF file — and whether or not they believe the theory — another malware is already up and running on their systems and doing malicious routines. Your Web Safe Removal Guide

Do you know what Your Web Safe is?

DESCRIPTION

Your Web Safe is the name describing a group of rogue anti-spyware programs such as The Web Sentinel and The Registry Sentinel. Maybe hackers are getting the word “Sentinel” confused with a newspaper because these programs do not guard or protect you from anything. Your Web Safe is nothing more than a series of useless software.

In non-techie terms: We have found that the Your Web Safe programs use advanced tactics to get you to purchase the full version of the program. If Your Web Safe or its family of applications is installed, they will at some point display a purchase screen that cannot be closed until the program is purchased. That’s pretty up-front and demanding if you ask us. Other programs in the Your Web Safe family use similar tactics such as displaying parasites that it found on your hard drive to scare you.

Do not trust Your Web Safe or any other program that is directly related it’s family of fake anti-spyware or fake registry cleaner programs.

Registry Sentinel Removal Guide

Do you know what Registry Sentinel is?

DESCRIPTION

Registry Sentinel is a fake registry repair program known to be part of the Your Web Safe group of rogue anti-spyware programs. Registry Sentinel, like other programs in the Your Web Safe family of fake applications, uses elicit tactics to get you to purchase the full version of the Registry Sentinel program. Registry Sentinel does this by locking you into a purchase page where this page cannot be closed unless the program is actually purchased. The Locker.exe file runs on your computer causing this to happen.

In non-techie terms: There is no doubt in our mind that Registry Sentinel is part of a dirty family that is out to take your money in return for a big headache. Registry Sentinel cannot be trusted and should not be purchased. You should remove Registry Sentinel if you ever get to the locked.exe purchase screen which we believe is part of Troj_Ransom.B which is a dirty Trojan infection.

AntivirusMaster (AV Master) Removal Guide

Do you know what AntivirusMaster is?

DESCRIPTION

AntivirusMaster or sometimes called AV Master, is a fake anti-spyware program discovered to be a clone of Antivirus 2008. It seems ever since Antivirus 2008 came out we are getting a steady influx of rogue anti-spyware programs having the “Antivirus” name in them.

AntivirusMaster or AV Master is just like the family of Antivirus 2008 fake programs in that most times it comes from the Zlob or Vundo Trojan infection. Once AntivirusMaster is installed it displays popups or system alerts notifying you of a bogus threat or infection. This is done in part of a scam to get you to purchase the full AntivirusMaster program.

In non-techie terms: AntivirusMaster is nothing to play with or trust. Because AntivirusMaster is a scam, you must remove it at once before damage is done to your system files. Do not download or purchase AntivirusMaster under any circumstances.

Aliases: AntivirusMaster, Antivirus Master, AV Master.
