SoulGlass Theme - Free Download

This cool Vista theme looks great. I am a big fan of themes that feature some natural elements like wood. The hardwood floor background looks so neat with the stage lights at the bottom of the screen and the transparent taskbar is just at the right level to notice it’s there but not take away from the feel. I like the Start orb and all the icons at the top of the desktop. The windows and the start menu look great to. This theme will be a tough one to top for the creator but I hope he does it.

Are you still using Windows XP? If you are then visit our FAQ page to download our XP Theme Patcher. If you’re using Windows Vista, you don’t need the Theme Patcher.

Whether you are planning to deploy Windows Vista or already did, it is important that you keep security high on your list and make sure that all of your desktops are secured.  So, how do you know if your desktops have Windows Firewall settings turned off?  What if some desktops do not have Anti-Virus or Anti-Spyware software installed?

To quickly get an answer, please check out the new Security Center assessment feature that we have added to the Microsoft Assessment and Planning Toolkit 3.1 released in June.  It auto-generates a security assessment report on your existing desktops as part of the "Windows Vista hardware assessment" migration report.

What's Next?

AntivirusDoc Removal Guide

Do you know what AntivirusDoc is?

DESCRIPTION

AntivirusDoc or Antivirus Doc, is a bothersome rogue anti-spyware program that might make you want to pull your hair out. AntivirusDoc is known to be a clone of WinAntivirusPro 3.7 which just like AntivirusDoc, uses popups and alert messages as scare tactics to trick users into thinking that they are infected with other parasites.

AntivirusDoc may be installed onto computers through a Trojan file which is usually downloaded by means of a fake video codec download. AntivirusDoc may also be manually downloaded and installed directly from the AntivirusDoc.net website.

In non-techie terms: It is not advisable to visit AntivirusDoc.net because you may get more than you bargained for. Usually hackers create websites that promote the download and sell of rogue anti-spyware programs. AntivirusDoc does not “provide you with the highest level of protection against malicious spyware and malware” like the AntivirusDoc.net website says it does. Do not download, install or purchase AntivirusDoc because you will only be wasting your time and money on a worthless program.

Introduction and History of Kubuntu

Kubuntu is an official project of Ubuntua complete implementation of the Ubuntu OS led by Jonathan Riddell (an employee of Canonical Ltd.) and an army of developers. However, Kubuntu uses KDE instead of GNOME for Ubuntu. The main goal of Kubuntu is to be a great integrated Linux distribution with all of the great features of Ubuntu, but based on KDE. Since Kubuntu is an official part of the Ubuntu community it adheres to the same Ubuntu manifesto: Great software should be available free of charge and should be usable by people in their own language regardless of disability. Also, people should be able to customize and alter their software in ways they deem fit.

Like Ubuntu, Kubuntu makes the following commitments: the very best translations and accessibility infrastructure that the free software community has to offer; Kubuntu will always be free of charge, and there is no extra cost for an "enterprise" version, and Kubuntu will always provide the latest and best software from the KDE community.

Looking for a certain piece of software? Kubuntu has it, with more then 1,000 pieces of software in its repositories including the latest kernel version and, of course, the latest KDE, which at the time of this writing is at version 3.5.2. The standard desktop applications (Web browsing, e-mail, word processing, and spreadsheet applications) allow Kubuntu to replace any current desktop OS. If you are running servers, whether it is a Web server, e-mail server, or database server, Kubuntu can do that as well.

History of Kubuntu
When Ubuntu was first being discussed there were rumors that it would be only based on GNOME, and KDE would be left out. Jonathan Riddell, a KDE developer, posted an article on his Web log (blog) that soon became the No. 1 hit on Google for Ubuntu Linux. The article states:

The signs are there that this could be something big, more so than the likes of Linspire, Xandros, or Lycrosis. Unlike those companies, they [Canonical Ltd. Software] understand Free Software and open development. It is likely to be a GNOME-based job, but maybe there is a KDE developer out there who is working for them without letting on. If not I'm always available.

This post started a flurry of activity both for Riddell and the others who wanted to participate.

A lot of changes needed to be made to get Kubuntu working correctly. A hardware-accessible library needed to be changed. Programs and packages needed to be created, along with a clean K-menu changed to fit the philosophy of Ubuntu. And along the way more people needed to join the project. It was a conscious decision to keep the default KDE colors and icons in order to remain as close to KDE as possible.

Once a preview release of Ubuntu (Hoary Hedgehog) came out, another flurry of activity ensued that had developers uploading last-minute changesincluding some that broke almost everything they had set upand the first CDs were released. Since this initial release Kubuntu has grown and changed. New items in the Breezy (5.10) release included system settings, automatic mounting when inserting a USB drive, and, of course, the latest KDE. In the next release, Dapper Drake (6.04), there are almost the same numbers of changes the latest version of KDE (version 3.5.2) along with featuring the addition of zerconf discovery, a new installer, Katapult enabled by default, and CJK (Chinese, Japanese, and Korean Language) support.

Kubuntu is quickly building up a sizable community of its own. Not only are there new package managers and a dedicated documentation team, but also many community and fan sites to help provide support and the most current information. Kubuntu has grown tremendously from just one developer to a large group as it continues to improve the quality of the distribution.

[Vista] Download uTorrent Manually To Update and Prevent the Error “Access is Denied”

utorrentError

"The uTorrent updater failed. The Error is: Access is denied."

My friend Kiz is a torrent movie fanatic and he always download programs using the tool. When the new version utorrent 1.8 was released, this message was shown:

error

"A new version of utorrent (1.8 build…) is available. Do you want to download and install it?…"

But while updating the program…the UAC appears and suddenly the update fails.

NOTE: I do not encourage people to download pirated or illegal copies of softwares, ebooks, and movies using the tool. This is only a solution from a problem that was asked for help.

Solution:

1. Just search "Download utorrent" using Google and download software manually.

2. Uninstall the previous version by going to Control Panel > Program and Features > Find the Program and Click the Uninstall Button above.

3. Finally, Open and install the new one. That’s it!

Backups Save you a Lot of Headaches

One thing about computers is that it is really the data inside that is important. The price for getting a new one will always be there but if you weigh out the cost of one computer desktop compared to the valuable data you have inside, it is pretty obvious that no amount of money can replace the records and files you created, mostly important when you talk about work or educational means.

It is easy to buy a computer or upgrade it as you wish. But once you lose certain files, trying to recall and bring them back may be too much of a burden if not a lost cause since historical data may no longer be feasible to remember.

Some computers last for as long as 5 years. This is assuming you are doing the proper maintenance for both internal systems and external parts of the standard desktop. Imagine the number of files you have by that time which can be deleted at an instant. It will probably make you break down in tears if you think of it.

There are alternatives. The reason why optical media is offered with your computer is for you to have external backups of files just in case something undesirable happens. Whether it is the standard CDR or DVDR, what is important is you have files safe and stored somewhere outside your computer. Remember, one system crash or accidental deletion can not be undone. Backup your files and save yourself the trouble of headaches such as these caused by tactless actions you may suddenly do.
