Should You Be Worried of Cyber Crime?

Issues and crimes running on the web are indeed growing and the cases can be seen. Identity theft and fraudulent use of credit cards have been reported and a lot of these things were done mainly through cyber-antics, much of which have caused a lot of discomfort as far as people going online most of the time. Should you be worried?

There is a sense of urgency needed. For one, people should be careful when they make transactions. Security for computers is a must and for most people, this begins by being careful with the links you click and the sites you end up with. Once click can destroy you and apparently this is something most people don’t want especially for the people who are always online.

As far as making transactions online, you will know where secure transactions are made and when they are hoaxes. Do not gamble on unknown sites or groups. Never reveal your credit card numbers or social security number. Be cautious. To some it may seem a big deal but do remember, it is better to be safe.

Private information cannot be taken on the web without your knowing it. The only way it can spread over the web is because of your doing. Avoid these problems. It can really help you fend of being a victim of cyber crimes.

The new Microsoft Visitor Center

As a Redmond-virgin, I took the opportunity to take out the three Microsoft campus “must-see” destination today - Microsoft Home, Microsoft Center for Information Work and the Microsoft Visitor Center. Whilst both Home and CIW were both cool and still cutting edge, neither of which has had any major renovations for a while and there’s plenty of good coverage about what they involve, however the new Visitor Center just launched weeks ago so it’s still fresh. You can check out a gallery of photos above.

One of the most interesting installations of the new Visitor Center is the floating sphere with 3D projection. From what I could gather, it uses four projectors to cast a perspective-correct overlay on top of a large white sphere lifted in the air. Whilst it is similar to the installation at Google’s lobby with “live search terms”, this too seems to be “live” with popular Live Search queries appearing occasionally.

The other installation, more of an artistic rather technology showcase is a “video wall” that plays a pretty cool looking animation about the Microsoft experience complete with wall-to-wall mood lighting.

Both features are the works of an obviously capable design Seattle firm, Hornall Anderson. It shows in the turtle.

Microsoft Vista Is Slowing Down Fast Processors

Ask around today and many are regretting using the new installment of Microsoft, the Windows Vista. We have had a knack for getting in with the times but apparently this time is an exception. Unlike the previous operating systems released by Microsoft, the slow process and system performance the Windows Vista is entirely irritating and more PC users today are trying to revert to Windows XP even if they are no longer updated nor offered for sale by Microsoft in local stores.

Would the PC user care at all? Apparently they don’t care if no more updates or patches would be released. They can wait for an improved Vista or perhaps another operating system that can be launched. In short, use anything but Windows Vista is what people are concluding right now.

Windows Vista seems to have a lot of areas that are not covered. Such is typical for most initial releases of Microsoft operating systems but the problem is that a PC owner cannot just format their hard drive similar to the past. They have to break the Vista system which may take some further steps which have already been posted here some months back.

If you want a review of how to go about it, you can check it out here.
