As a security guy, I get all sorts of questions from people about privacy. A lot of folks really think about online privacy as the same thing as computer security. Others see it as a pure tradeoff between one or the other. I don’t necessarily think that giving up privacy results in greater security; nor do I believe that greater security requires a loss of privacy. No matter what your thoughts are on security and privacy, I hope there is one thing we can all agree on: both are important.

That’s why I’m glad to report that Microsoft, along with other key players in the safety ecosystem, is once again participating in today’s global event, Data Privacy Day. A lot of you have probably never heard of Data Privacy Day, so here’s the skinny: it is a day intended to increase awareness of privacy and data protection issues that we all face. I’m proud of Microsoft’s commitment to protecting consumer privacy, and on a personal level, I’m happy to have been involved in campaigns promoting child safety and preventing identity theft.

Description of Adware Eradicator and consequences of its residing on your PC

Adware is a variety of malware that is considered to be less dangerous than spyware, since it just bothers you posing no challenge to system safety and data confidentiality. That is what may be derived from most websites providing the definitions of malware, adware and spyware. However, one may wonder reading malware observing articles that adware (advertising software) is the name applied to programs hardly endamaging infected systems besides being very annoying. This conflicts with the statement in the first sentence above that adware poses no challenge to system safety. Thus, a new category should be introduced to designate programs generating misleading ads and crushing computers. Let us use the name ?Crushware? to this purpose and there is another program that is to be described in this post that belongs to this just-introduced category. Remove Adware Eradicator (AdwareEradicator) as another program pretending to remove certain type of rogue program but in reality harming computers having infected them with its trial version. Of course, this program produces fake alerts and thus is not less bothering than typical pure adware.

This mod grew from a finishing Royale Noir project to encompass Zune bug fixing as well. If you are a fan of Microsoft's Royale, this is the only Royale theme you will ever need. The theme now consists of 3 color schemes, Royale, Royale Noir and Royale Zune. For Royale Noir, Microsoft came 50% of the way, and I went the other 50%, a lot of work and bugfixes was done to finish the theme.
