Bigger Files, Bigger Hard Drives
Some years ago, you would think that having a 40 gigabyte hard drive would be more than enough. Documents, spreadsheets and a couple of images could be stored with plenty to spare. But it seems that all of this has changed today.
We are now in an age where videos and audio files are a demand. Many people are downloading like crazy, disregarding the matter of space that some people consider a problem since they barely had enough time to address it. With gigabytes in play, who would ever thought that you would need something bigger than the average 40 gigabyte before?
Today we find hard drives that shoot up to 160 gigabyte, that is 4 times the previous hard drive space we had. With that much space, what would you store in them? Well here are some things we can download today that makes it necessary for us to get more files:
1. Movies
2. Music (albums)
3. Photos and Images
4. Software
When we say movies, we are referring towards the usual VCD and DVD formats. A standard VCD format would normally have 700 MB of space while DVD’s would need approximately 4 gigabyte. So if you look at it, 160 gigabyte hard drives can store 40 movies if they are mainly used as slave drives.
No one thought this would be the case today. But as technology grows, so do the options when you download over the web. With that in mind, who knows how bigger these hard drives will get in the near future!
