Clockspeed Oddity in VirtualBox w/ WinXP-x64 Guest

Although I want to do some research to find out *why* I’m seeing this, I just wanted to share this oddity that I came across…

When looking at the system properties of a Windows XP x64 Virtual Machine running in VirtualBox 2.1.4 on a Vista x64 host, the clockspeed is reported at 114.39GHz, however running CPU-Z running on the guest reports it (nearly) correctly…

In contrast, a Windows XP Pro (32-bit) guest reports the correct clockspeed in System Properties.

Again, I’m not sure what this means, *or* how the System Properties window goes about computing clockspeed. I do know that the speed reported under System Properties on XP *is* dynamic, as it’s a good way to see how fast a CPU is currently running on a system that has CPU power management enabled…

If anyone who reads this can shed some light onto this mystery for me, I’m all ears!
