I am having a similar issue. I think my WMA audio codecs are damaged when I either installed a program or did the SP1 upgrade for Vista. I can play local content fine and many streams play fine but stuff with either: Windows Media audio V2 or Windows Media 9.2 as the CODEC for audio, I get nothing. It says it is working and it should be but NO AUDIO.... So frustrating.

I did watch a stream on another site that used an embeded WMA player and it worked. It was using Windows Media Audio 9.1 so I don't know if the embeded player had anything to do with it...

To whom it may concern,

I'm trying to fix a problem with my Compaq Presario PC. It's a Vista Home Basic addition which doesn't play the sound when I play a movie. I was informed that the computer's audio subsystem ,the codec, was probably damaged or missing. I'm desperately seeking a codec which is compatible with the computer system. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!! My computer is a Home Basic Compaq Vista Presario C552US Notebook.
