De gebruikers van Linux worden toegewezen een naam, die als een gebruikersbenaming, door de wortelexploitant wordt bekend. Één methode om gebruikersbenamingen toe te wijzen is zijn eerste aanvankelijke en laatste naam in in kleine letters te gebruiken; bijvoorbeeld, zou Bernice Hudson een gebruikersbenaming van bhudson hebben. Elke gebruiker moet een wachtwoord ook hebben, dat met de gebruikersbenaming of bij grafische of tekst gebaseerde login wordt gebruikt.

De oudere versies van werkende systemen Linux beperkten de lengte van gebruikersbenamingen tot 8 karakters. De huidige versie van Ubuntu beperkt gebruikersbenamingen tot 32 karakters. De goede wachtwoorden zouden een minimum van 8 lange karakters moeten zijn en brieven in hoofdletters en in kleine letters, samen met aantallen bevatten. De willekeurige wachtwoorden voor gebruikers kunnen worden geproduceerd gebruikend het mkpasswdbevel. De goede wachtwoorden zijn niet verjaardagen, verjaardagen, de naam van uw huisdier, de naam van uw significante andere, of het model van uw eerste auto!

U kunt uw gebruikersbenaming veranderen niet, maar u kunt uw gebruikersinformatie, zoals adres, telefoon veranderen, etc. U brengt deze veranderingen aan gebruikend het chfn of veranderingsbevel van de vingerinformatie. Dit bevel zal de inhoud van uw ingang in het dossier /etc/passwd van het systeemwachtwoord wijzigen, dat door het vingerbevel aan vertoningsinformatie over de gebruiker van een systeem wordt gebruikt. Meestal, wanneer u PC vertraagt, zijn de kansen u zouden beschuldigen het aan verouderde hardware en delen. Yesterday, the Zune Team announced their Zune 3.0 release was hitting next week on September 16th. As a Zune user myself, I am pretty stoked for the Zune 3.0 release. The Zune 3.0 release consists of updates across the entire Zune ecosystem including new firmware updates for all Zune devices, new Zune software update, and updates to the Zune Social. The Zune 3.0 release focuses on music discovery and taking it to the next level.

Instead of me talking about the new features in Zune 3.0 that help users discover new music - I figure I'd just show you these videos from members of the Zune Team instead that show off the new features themselves (I love that new Zune animation they use at the beginning and end of the videos!).

Whilst some may have unlocked the secret to the M.C. Escher Zune logo, most people are still left pondering “what the hell is that thing”. Besides the announcements today of the new models and features in the updated firmware, the Zune brand is also sporting at least 2 new logo animations which are worthwhile pointing out. There’s one at the beginning and end of these official “guide” videos.

Whilst I’m not sure if the animation is suppose to make it any easier to understand, but it’s sure pretty to look at. As an added bonus there’s also a cute chime in the background.

As some other people have suggested it would be pretty cool if this animation was used as the startup animation on the Zune at boot (not resume at standby though), sort of like the XBOX360 startup sequence, giving it a bit of extra flair.

The culture of sharing in the open source community and adoption of a wide array of tools for communicating on the Internet have helped Linux move quickly through infancy and adolescence to become a mature operating system.

That commitment has also encouraged involvement from the kind of people who are willing to contribute back to that community in all kinds of ways.
