Leistung:
Der gesamte Windows Erfahrung Index ist 5.4, denen ich bin hübsches gutes glaube. Das Begrenzungssubscore (5.4) ist die Scheiben, wirklich und sie sind sehr Schnell-SATA II Antriebe 7200-RPM, obwohl Sie 10.000 U/min Antriebe erhalten können, die schneller schon sein sollten. Das höchste subscore ist die Windows Aero Graphiken, 5.9. Alles sonst fällt zwischen, also ist das System recht wohles ausgeglichenes.Stille:
Wenn es gibt nichts sonst, gehend an in den Raum, in Fernsehapparat und in den alten Computer, der, sitzend an meinem Schreibtisch abgestellt wird, kann ich ein schwaches, tiefes Brüllen, das dem Ton, den, Sie ähnlich sind indem Sie hören, ein großes seashell bis zu Ihrem Ohr, halten aber zweifellos nicht dieses laute hören. Es hat eine Resonanz zu ihm, trotz meiner Bemühungen, Töne innerhalb des Kastens zu befeuchten. Ich denke, daß der hintere Ventilator der Ursprung von die meisten der Geräusche ist. Es ist nicht unzulässig, weil es schwach ist, aber ich versuche vermutlich, mehr zu tun, um den Ton, wie zu begrenzen:
- Fügen Sie mehr Ton-dämpfendes Material innerhalb des Kastens hinzu; es gibt Raum auf der Seitenverkleidung für mehr;
- Spiel mit Gebläse-Drehzahlen. Der Computer berichtet über seine eigenen Temperaturen an einigen Plätzen einschließlich die CPU, die Graphikkarte und das Motherboard, und die sind ziemlich bequem innerhalb Spezifikt. im Augenblick, also könnte ich eine niedrigere Geschwindigkeit für den hinteren Ventilator wählen;
- Umfassen Sie das merkwürdige Bohrung Muster auf der Rückseite des Falles, für den kein Zweck scheint; und
- Ersetzen Sie oder rewire den hinteren Ventilator. Das Motherboard kam mit einem Ventilatorsteuerung Anschluß für diesen Ventilator, aber ungewöhnlich, daß Ventilator nicht mit einem Stecker zur Ventilatorsteuerung kam. Es kann für mich, einen Ventilator mit dem rechten Stecker zu bestellen anstatt ein Umwandlung Kabel einfacher sein.
Es ist ein guter Computer. Glücklicherweise gab es keine DOA (Tot-aufankunft) Teile, und es kam nach rechts oben und lief. Die einzigen Probleme waren Software eine, nachher Vista wurde und, nicht hier besprochen zu werden angebracht (obwohl ich dennoch a, bekanntzugeben kann rant über Vista. Es ist SO unbeholfen und stumpf). Ich denke, daß, sobald eine Person die korrekten Teile an Hand hat, man einen Computer so in eine Stunde zusammen einsetzen konnten oder zwei, einschließlich die Ausgangsvista Installation.

After powering up the disks, this screen in the BIOS allowed the association of drives A and B as a single fault-tolerant 320 Gb RAID disk before anything was ever written to the disks.
When first powering up the system, I had disconnected all of the disk drives and some other stuff to see if the CPU and motherboard would POST (power-on self test). THEY DID! This screen proves that a lot of stuff was working:
- Power supply;
- Motherboard;
- CPU;
- Graphics card, at least sufficient to display to the generic screen; and
- USB ports and keyboard-handling firmware on the motherboard;
- Fans (I could see them turn).
The box is fully wired and ready to test.
The motherboard is installed and screwed in place.
The three 320 Gb hard drives are in place and wired up. Two drives are for the fault-tolerant RAID disk, and a third will be used as a backup.
It's still hard for me to reconcile this palm-sized, silent, extremely fast 320 Gb drive with the washing-machine-sized sub-Gb drives I cut my computer teeth on years ago. And in just a few years, even these will be replaced with much faster flash drives having no moving parts at all.
Sound-deadening material stuck to the back side of the hard-drive cage. A similar piece is attached to the side door covering the drives on this side, and on the bottom and top of the cage. I attached this material on all interior surfaces wherever it could be attached without getting in the way or interfering with the passage of cooling air.
Sound-deadeing felt. Found in the local Menards hardware store, not for the purpose of deadening sound, but I think it should work. I liked the black better, but the store didn't have much so I bought some of both.
