Each time your taskbar disappears double click the icon and click yes when prompted, this will restart the Windows Explorer Shell during which your desktop icons will momentarily disappear. Once complete another dialogue box will appear, click ok. Your taskbar will be restored. N.B. Any windows/folders that are open for example My Music or Documents Etc. will be closed during the process. Internet explorer windows and other programmes will stay open and should not be effected. Every time I unplug my dual monitor to go to meetings the taskbar dissapears. Something as fundemental as this should have been fixed BEFORE the Vista release, much less a year after!
