Using a Shared Printer on your Home Network
Here’s how you can use your printer that is shared on your home network.
- Click Start Orb
- Click Control Panel
- Click Network and Internet
- Click Network and Sharing Center
- Click on Sharing and Discovery
- Click the drop down arrow on Password protected sharing and turn off the password protected sharing and then click Apply
- If you are suddenly prompted by the UAC just click continue and proceed with your life
- Click the drop down arrow next to Printer sharing Turn on printer sharing click Apply
- If you are suddenly prompted by the UAC just click continue and proceed with your life
After the setup you can now proceed to printing it over the network.
- Click the Start Orb
- In the search bar type \\name_of computer_with_shared_printer, and press the Enter key
- If typed correctly Vista will open the folder for that shared computer. Double click the Printers icon then Double left click the shared printer icon so that Vista will automatically install the printer drivers
