Samsung Unveils LED Monitors at CES

The place to be is at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) where a wide array of new technological devices are on hand spearheaded by a line of new eco-friendly monitors designed with LED technology. Samsung leads the cast of companies showcasing their new line of monitors and it is worthy to note that many of them have adhered towards energy consumption and alternative methods of enhancing graphical resolutions.

One would think that the old CRT monitors are no longer in existence with the wide array of monitors on hand. But if power consumption is to be highlighted, it is apparent that it is time for a change and converting towards these new LCD monitors is a step towards that direction.

Samsung claims its new ToC monitors consume half the normal wattage of other monitors by using two-lamp low power consumption, while the manufacturing process eliminates harmful paints and sprays to make it easier to recycle monitors.

Expect these new breed of monitors to be high in demand once they hit the shops. Other than getting in with the times, it is apparent that all of us are setting our sights for an

Backtracking to the NeXT Computer

Do you remember your first computer? I can still remember my first one, known as the XT series. You can just imagine how rare hard drives were back then, making use of the Jurassic floppy drives that started everything in the computing binge. They have incrementally shrunk and today we don’t even use the floppy drive anymore. We make use of the hard drive or the portable USB drives while others make the most out of their optical storage solutions, thing we never foresaw back then.

Then there was the usual monochrome look to which users with the VGA card were the big dogs in the computing industry. Today, you are practically allowed to watch videos in full living color, something that many would see as common as long as you get the right RGB colors to enjoy movies and graphics as clearly and defined as possible.

Most of these cropped up when I came across this post, the NeXT computer which is rare these days. I don’t know if it still functional but it is a collector’s item. NeXt was actually the company where Steve Jobs started out when he

Gadgets You May Want to Consider This Christmas

December is here and for the computer geeks, the season for buying is at hand. This could go as far as getting a new computer package or perhaps upgrading or adding certain peripherals to your current setup. Making a Christmas wish list is apparent and among the things needed would vary, depending on how geeky you can get. The best thing about it is that price drops are sure to be in demand as most companies are inclined to clean up their inventory, a familiar practice of businesses once the year draws to a close. Here are some potential things you may want to buy.

New Video Card. Price drops as far as video cards with higher DDR ram are bound to be offered anywhere. While many would not care as long as their computer operates fine with any video card compatible with it, upgrading for a few bucks would not hurt. Also, consider the fact that higher specs of video cards are coming out and with that in mind, cheaper video cards with good DDR rams like 256 RAM and a TV out option can be a great addition to

Save Buying New PC Parts for Later

When it comes to fixing a certain part such as perhaps a PC video card, there is no doubt that they are getting cheaper as video card vendors are slowly coming out with new ones today. While many would consider buying a new video card, trying to make do with old ones (assuming they are still functioning properly), would be best done until the time you consider buying at least a brand new CPU with parts that are advanced than your new one.

There was a previous post before about changing the auxiliary fan of video cards for the time being while saving the cost of buying a new video card. The price disparity is glaring considering that a well-fitted auxiliary fan would cost about 10% of a brand new video card. With some changes to the fans, you may be surprised at how much you can save for now rather than buying a new one which may have cases as not being compatible with new motherboards once you finally decide to upgrade.

There is no doubt that some video cards and peripherals are flexible. In fact, you can go as

Welcome the Power Supply for Gamers

You would think that gamers could care less of the capacity that their usual PC power supply can handle but apparently, the increase in hardware specifications such as video card requirements and power drain that stems from their everyday playing needs to be addressed.

The ALU650W PSU from GlacialPower is likewise targeted to the graphics designers which are growing in number and have had their share of shortage in power requirement. Hopefully though with the ALU650W, most of these issues will be answered and laid to rest.

Who would ever think that power supplies in the traditional PCs would not matter? Well apparently it does in a lot of ways and the new thermal solutions thrown our way by GlacialPower is certainly a welcome option as far as configuring and enhancing the standard power supply units we have that can only accommodate a normal wattage of 300 watts by default.

The AL650W (PSU) has won already many awards for its performance including Modreactor Excellence Award, MIKHAILTECH Editor”s Choice Award, and various other award from test benches from across the world.

Don’t Forget to Clean the Outer PC Casing

People could care less about how their computer would look after some time. As long as it is functioning, they could care less of how it appears on the outside. But for PCs that find themselves in offices, tidiness is something that they would want to consider since at times, it would be a bit awry to see your computer turning yellowish and gathering dust due to lack of cleaning.

Surely, this is the job of the maintenance personnel or the maids. But at times, you have to consider that such a small piece of cleaning job can be done by you. There are computer cleaner solutions in the market you can use. Some use alcohol but that is not advisable. It does clean those darkened portions but after a few days, don’t be surprised to see that cleaned part turning yellow.

A lot of that is because of the reaction towards the chemical ingredients inside alcohols. That is why even if people are apprehensive in buying specified computer cleaners that is one reason since alcohol is not really mean to clean computers and external coverings.

Some use rugs that are moist but normally, it does not clean the portions
