Wij allen hebben ons kleine geheimen, persoonlijk en privé materiaal op onze computer gekregen die wij willen veilig houden of eerder niet aandeel met anderen. Maar de verbergende dingen op een computer kunnen moeilijk zijn, vooral als u niet kunt herinneren waar u het zet, en gecodeerde dossiers bent dode giveaway dat u te verbergen iets hebt.

De vrije Omslag van de Huid is wat nodig hebt u, maakt het eenvoudig omslagen en hun inhoud van Vensters verdwijnen, zodat zelfs als iemand rond uw PC snooping zal het niet verschijnen, en geen wat zij kunnen zien zij niet kunnen breken in. Het is unbelievably makkelijk te gebruiken, plaats enkel een wachtwoord, bevestigen het, specificeren de omslagen u wilt O.K. verbergen en klikken. De enige manier om hen te maken opnieuw verschijnen is de Vrije Omslag van de Huid te openen en uw wachtwoord in te gaan, zich zo enkel herinneren om het programma te verbergen, of het een verschillende naam te geven. Wat als u iets laat - nacht downloadde, maar voelt u slaperig? Het waarschijnlijkst, zult u uw PC aangezet de hele nacht verlaten en zult meer aan uw macht miljard besteden. Gelukkig, heeft Firefox handig rand welke uw PC automatisch uitzet wanneer u eindigt downloadend, bewarend zowel machtsrekening als milieu.

De uitbreiding voegt checkbox aan downloadmanger en een pictogram aan de statusstaaf toe. Clicking on the icon or checkbox will turn the auto turn off feature. It doesn’t turn off as soon as all downloads are completed, but instead it has a one minute countdown. However, some dialogues and windows which prompt unsaved document might prevent your PC from turning off. (more…)

It’s important to note that there is no reason to remove or roll back the updated support files that Windows Update may have installed on a PC. There’s no evidence that these files are harmful or cause any software conflicts.

Furthermore, if you use a corporate patch management solution, such as Microsoft’s WSUS (Windows Server Update Services), you circumvent Windows Update and no files will be installed by WU.

But if you’re an individual or a small business using Windows Update (or its enhanced sibling, Microsoft Update), you may be concerned about Microsoft installing patches before you’ve had a chance to research their reliability. In that case, you can completely turn off the Automatic Updates Agent, thereby preventing updates or even notifications from occurring. (more…)

“20-inch” and “notebook” are two words that should probably be never used together in a single sentence. This computer gives new meaning to “the straw that broke the camel’s back”, but on the bright side, the camel can enjoy a feast of entertainment choices on this somewhat portable powerhouse.

A HP PR representative sent me an email asking if I was interesting in participating in a bloggers program to test drive Hewlett-Packard’s new Pavilion HDX9000 Series entertainment notebook PC, otherwise known as the “Dragon”. Being a sucker for freebies I gladly accepted. And today it arrived.

Disclaimer: This notebook is on-loan from HP for purpose of this review, playing games, watching movies, smudging and weight lifting. For that reason, my judgment on how awesome it is may be impaired. However, trust me on one thing, it doesn’t make it any smaller.

Free Up Disk Space
By freeing disk space, you can improve the performance of your computer. The Disk Cleanup tool helps you free up space on your hard disk. The utility identifies files that you can safely delete, and then enables you to choose whether you want to delete some or all of the identified files.

Use Disk Cleanup to:

• Remove temporary Internet files.
• Remove downloaded program files (such as Microsoft ActiveX controls and Java applets).
• Empty the Recycle Bin.
• Remove Windows temporary files.
• Remove optional Windows components that you don’t use.

Every once in a while you notice that your hard drive is working extra hard for what seems like no reason. A background process has taken your hard drive hostage, forcing it to thrash loudly as it struggles to keep up with the high rate of reads and writes. Your computer responds slowly as the process overloads the physical limitations of your drive. What are you to do?
