TrueCrypt está fresco

Meu negócio requer-me proteger a segurança de determinadas limas.

Você escolhe a letra.
  • A aplicação de TrueCrypt funciona no fundo e controla TrueCrypt

Speeding Up the Boot Process

The more stuff that Windows has to start up during boot, the longer it will take to complete.

So, with that in mind, the first thing you need to do is start unloading programs which are set to start automatically when you boot Windows. There are two places, primarily, that you want to look at:

1. Look in the “Startup†folder in your Start Menu. Anything in that folder is set to start automatically. To remove a program from this folder, simply navigate to the “Startup†folder in your Start Menu, right-click on the item you want to remove, and choose “Delete†from the menu. This will not delete the program…only the shortcut to it. (more…)

How to Remain Secure on Cyber Monday

With Cyber Monday almost here, it’s very important to equip your computer with powerful and well-developed technologies which would be able to defend you and keep your data secure during the entire holiday shopping season. Today, the Zone Alarm developers, Check Point Software Technologies, offered several pieces of advice on how to remain secure and buy products online without any threat.

For those of you who don’t know what Cyber Monday is, it marks the beginning of the holiday shopping season. This day is usually the best time for shopping because most merchants launch special offers and prices for a wide category of products, all of them accessible via the Internet. Because millions of consumers will go online for shopping, some bad-intended persons a.k.a. attackers, phishers, scammers, hackers (you can call them however you want) will surely attempt to steal your money, products or even financial information. Saving Power on Intel Hardware Using Powertop

PowerTOP is a Linux tool that finds the software component(s) that make your laptop use more power than necessary while it is idle. As of Linux kernel version 2.6.21, the kernel no longer has a fixed 1000Hz timer tick. This will (in theory) give a huge power savings because the CPU stays in low power mode for longer periods of time during system idle.

However… there are many things that can ruin the party, both inside the kernel and in userspace. PowerTOP combines various sources of information from the kernel into one convenient screen so that you can see how well your system is doing, and which components are the biggest problem. (more…)

Handle Registry editing with caution

I explained how to disable Windows auto-run behavior to protect yourself from inadvertently running malware that might exist on USB drives or other devices you insert into your PC.

Be aware, however, that careless Registry editing can make your system malfunction or even keep you from starting Windows.

Use care making changes to the Registry

Any tip that requires direct editing of the Registry (whether using the Registry Editor or merging a .reg script) should be approached with caution. The best insurance policy in these cases is to set a Windows “restore point” before experimenting with such advice. (more…)
