На леты я использовал Encrypted волшебные скоросшиватели (EMF) от Пикокулон-Волшебства для того чтобы encrypt те архивы, и спрятать они от взгляда interloper. Я полюбил его, потому что архивы всегда были encrypted на диске and yet были полно доступны к применениям. Однако, когда я модернизировал к Vista 64, новое EMF разбило моя система настолько вполне что оно было unbootable даже в безопасном режиме. Я пытался оно дважды, брался дважды с некоторым затруднением, и давался вверх на EMF.

Тем временем я услышал около TrueCrypt, пакет encryption диска раскрывать-источника для Windows и Linux. Оно свободно! Мне должен впустить то после того как я downloaded оно, я было нужно некоторое время получить мой разум вокруг его.

Здесь basics:

• Использующ применение TrueCrypt вы создаете большой архив «контейнера» на вашей системе, более большой чем вам будет нужно держать ваши encrypted архивы. Оно может находиться на прочитанных любых/пишет диск, даже ручку памяти, и первоначально заполнено с случайно данными.
• Архив контейнера можно скопировать, двинутая, уничтоженная, или переименованная справедливая как любой другой архив. Оно не утло. Оно может иметь любое имя и любое дополнение к файлу. Вы можете иметь больше чем одно.
• С применением TrueCrypt, вы держатель тот архив контейнера как том диска с своими письмо привода. Вы выбираете письмо.
• Применение TrueCrypt бежит в предпосылке и управляет TrueCrypt

The more stuff that Windows has to start up during boot, the longer it will take to complete.

So, with that in mind, the first thing you need to do is start unloading programs which are set to start automatically when you boot Windows. There are two places, primarily, that you want to look at:

1. Look in the “Startup” folder in your Start Menu. Anything in that folder is set to start automatically. To remove a program from this folder, simply navigate to the “Startup” folder in your Start Menu, right-click on the item you want to remove, and choose “Delete” from the menu. PowerTOP is a Linux tool that finds the software component(s) that make your laptop use more power than necessary while it is idle. As of Linux kernel version 2.6.21, the kernel no longer has a fixed 1000Hz timer tick. This will (in theory) give a huge power savings because the CPU stays in low power mode for longer periods of time during system idle.

However… there are many things that can ruin the party, both inside the kernel and in userspace. PowerTOP combines various sources of information from the kernel into one convenient screen so that you can see how well your system is doing, and which components are the biggest problem. (more…)

I explained how to disable Windows auto-run behavior to protect yourself from inadvertently running malware that might exist on USB drives or other devices you insert into your PC.

Be aware, however, that careless Registry editing can make your system malfunction or even keep you from starting Windows.

Use care making changes to the Registry

Any tip that requires direct editing of the Registry (whether using the Registry Editor or merging a .reg script) should be approached with caution. The best insurance policy in these cases is to set a Windows “restore point” before experimenting with such advice. (more…)
