Dell Desktop to be Launched

Dell Small Form Factor Desktop

Here is a little something for the people who prefer branded yet affordable PC desktops. Dell will be officially releasing the Small Form Factor PC today and for sure this will be a good buy for people who put quality and preference for computer performance as well as relying heavily in brand name.

The small form factor PC that Dell was talking up earlier this year will be released tomorrow.

The company posted a teaser video to its blog today.

Dell says the new Studio Hybrid is 80 percent smaller than a traditional PC and it will come in seven different colors. But here’s some stuff that’s not in the video: It will retail for $699 with a monitor, and $499 without, according to sources familiar with the product. And, although it’s a desktop, it’ll have Intel’s latest mobile processor in it.

So for people who want something branded and worth value for their money, this Small Form Factor PC from Dell is a good option to consider. An eco-friendly factor that this PC boasts is that it uses 70% less energy and that the casing is made from

We Are The People We’ve Been Waiting For

Back at the end of January, Nick posted about the (PRODUCT) RED presence all around Microsoft's Redmond campus in promoting the (PRODUCT) RED cause. We had banners hung all around campus (which are still up today) as well as table tents in many of Microsoft's cafeterias. However there was one element we didn't mention I thought was worth sharing:

Folks in the cafeterias wore these t-shirts the week we announced joining Dell and (RED) in helping fight AIDS in Africa. Many Microsoft employees could also be seen wearing these t-shirts which were created as a demonstration of Microsoft's partnership with (RED).

Remember, you can purchase a (PRODUCT) RED Dell PC with Windows Vista Ultimate (PRODUCT) RED online at Dell.com or at your local Best Buy too. $50 from either purchasing either a M1330 or M1530 Dell XPS (PRODUCT) RED laptop goes to the Global

Dell (PRODUCT) RED Systems Now Available in UK, France and Germany

Dell has announced that customers in the UK, France, and Germany can now purchase (PRODUCT) RED Dell PCs and help eliminate AIDS in Africa.

Those (PRODUCT) RED PCs come with Windows Vista Ultimate (PRODUCT) RED, including (RED)-inspired desktop wallpapers, a new DreamScene, a screensaver, and Sidebar Gadgets.

Remember, Dell and Windows will contribute $50 when you purchase either the Dell XPS M1530 or M1330 (PRODUCT) RED laptops to the Global Fund, to help eliminate AIDS in Africa. Dell and Windows will contribute $80 when you purchase a Dell XPS One (PRODUCT) RED PC to the Global Fund as well. $80 can buy 6 months of antiretroviral treatment for a single person living with AIDS in Africa. And $50 can buy 416 single dose treatments that help transmission of HIV from mother to baby. You can make a difference with your Dell and Windows (PRODUCT) RED PC purchase.

Enabling the Windows Vista Ultimate (PRODUCT) RED bits

In order to get started using your brand-new Dell (PRODUCT) RED PC right out of the box, you will need to enable a few things in order for the Windows Vista Ultimate (PRODUCT) RED bits such as the Sidebar Gadgets and Windows DreamScene to run. In the following video - I show you exactly what you need to do to view the awesome (PRODUCT) RED Sidebar Gadgets as well as the (PRODUCT) RED DreamScene.

Video: Windows (PRODUCT) RED: Sidebar Gadgets and DreamScene

As shown in the video, in order to utilize Windows Sidebar I first needed to deactivate Google Sidebar.

My preference is Windows Sidebar anyway - especially with the all the gadgets I run. After I deactivated Google Sidebar and got Windows Sidebar running, I needed to install the (PRODUCT) RED gadgets which are located in the following directory on your Dell (PRODUCT) RED PC:

C:\dell\red\Recovery\Gadgets\Vista\

Once the (PRODUCT) RED Sidebar Gadgets are installed, I was able to use the Gadget Picker in Windows Sidebar to add them (although they appear

Finding (PRODUCT) RED Dell PCs at Best Buy

On top of purchasing your (PRODUCT) RED PCs from Dell online, Dell is also providing the (PRODUCT) RED PCs for purchase at Best Buy. Here is a search of BestBuy.com for Dell’s (PRODUCT) RED PCs. Just click on one of the PCs and you can choose to search near-by stores for inventory.

In going to Best Buy to purchase your (PRODUCT) RED PC, just ask a sales associate for a (PRODUCT) RED Dell PC.

All (PRODUCT) RED Dell PCs have a special (PRODUCT) RED sticker on the side of their boxes which helps tell them apart from the normal non-(PRODUCT) RED PCs.

Taking a peek at Windows Vista Ultimate (PRODUCT) RED running on Dell PCs

Last week in Redmond I had the pleasure of taking a look the PCs from Dell running Windows Vista Ultimate (PRODUCT) RED.  The line-up includes the Dell XPS M1330 and M1530 laptops, the Dell XPS One, and Dell’s 948 All-in-One printer. And all of them of course in red! Using Windows Live Photo Gallery, I’ve uploaded some shots I took of the (PRODUCT) RED line-up to Flickr to share with everyone - enjoy.
