Quando Microsoft ha spedito “Toolkit di disegno industriale di Microsoft„ oltre a 70 produttori di macchinari originali l'anno scorso prima che il lancio di Windows Vista, Microsoft speri di eliminare “scatola beige„ pc di girata e di ideologia negli oggetti di desiderio. SXSW: Come generare un gruppo addetto alla progettazione interno di Kickass
A relativo a quest'anno Sud dal festival del South West (Uomo Burning per i geeks), ex direttore di disegno di Microsoft Tjeerd Hoek ha fatto un'apparenza mentre un partecipante sulla sessione ha intitolato “come generare un gruppo addetto alla progettazione interno di Kickass„. registrazione integrale del podcast
infine č stato liberato appena alcune settimane fa. It is definitely worth listening to if you have an interest in design, working in an in-house design team, or some insight into how Microsoft Design worked.
Tjeerd, for those who don’t know, was the Microsoft design director for Windows until April this year. He was largely responsible for managing the entire Windows design process including Windows Vista from start to finish. Alongside Tjeerd was a host of notable design directors from Google, Intuit and Hoover’s.
The panel was focused around “in-house design teams”, that is design groups inside a large organization dedicated to serving the design needs of the entire organization. Microsoft’s in-house design group is appropriately named, “Microsoft Design“. Microsoft’s plans for the Zune
Take one look at the Zune and you know that even though its a great media player, it’s not one to really create any splash in the digital music industry, and definitely not one to pose much of a threat to the iPod, the current leader in the media player market. Why?
Because Zune wasn’t meant to create a splash nor pose any threat to other competing products……yet.
To understand Microsoft’s strategy, you need to realize that the Zune is much more than a media player, its a platform. With the Zune out of the door Microsoft is not only gaining a customer base, but an assortment of accessories and services specific to the Zune, as well as media content providers.
A lot of work is being done on Zune as we speak, and the best part about it is that you’ll be able to get most of the planned features with a firmware update.
Here’s a list of some of the things planned:
- Buy songs, music videos, movies, TV Shows, etc. from the Zune Marketplace. You’ll also be able to purchase accessories online from Microsoft partners.
- Get a whole range of free content like artist interviews, video biographies, podcasts, etc.
