Se il numero di email e di lettere che ricevo sull'omissione accidentale delle lime è qualche cosa andare vicino noi è nella sofferenza dell'epidemia delle barrette del burro del `'… Le lime dell'immagine sulle schede di memoria sono di gran lunga le lime più popolari da ottenere zapped dall'errore ma interessa tutto, dai documenti di parola alle piste dell'album e non posso negare che non lo ho fatto io stesso, ma quando accade la cosa che più difettosa possiate fare è lasciarsi prendere dal panico. Se fate le probabilità sono voi rendono la situazione ancora più difettosa, in modo da quando avete cancellato una lima e la desiderate indietro la prima cosa fare dovete controllare lo scomparto di riciclaggio. Se non è là allora ci è ancora l'tutto o una parte chance molto buon di esso è ancora sull'azionamento e questo programma piccolo del freeware, denominato Restoration potrebbe ottenerlo indietro per voi. If you wish to bring up Windows' file search minimise all your windows and press F3. You can also search within a certain folder too: open that folder up in Windows Explorer (the name for the program that opens when you double click on 'My Documents', 'My Computer', etc) and - you guessed it - press F3.

Pressing F3 opens search dialogs in many other programs as well: in Internet Explorer it opens (and closes) the vertical search bar; in MS Outlook it opens up the 'Advanced Find' dialog. Try pressing F3 when using applications that have some sort of search facility.

In a similar vein, you can open up the find facility in many applications by holding down the Control ('Ctrl') key and pressing F. To explain the difference between search and find, consider that you will search for a web page and when you have opened it you can find text within it. In MS Word Ctrl + F opens the 'Find and Replace' dialog. As with F3, try it out in any program that has a find facility.

Who or what is your computer talking to right now? You may think that just because your web browser or email program is not running your PC is offline. Think again. If you have a broadband connection then the chances are it is constantly chattering away, sending and receiving data. Most of it is innocuous and your Firewall and security programs should block the really bad stuff but there’s a lot of other, sometimes mysterious communications going on in the background, which could be slowing your connection down, or maybe aeven malware sending your personal details to heaven knows where.

Here’s a way to find out what’s going on. Go to Run on the Start menu and type cmd then press OK and this will open a DOS like Command window. (more…)

I recently received the following via email. I responded, but never heard back. Hopefully the information will be of use to others...

Hi, Found your name on the web when I was looking at some stuff on slashdot and I thought maybe you might have a moment to point me in the right direction.
I have a custom app which I have zero access to in terms of the developer. When the app was run on new hardware, a few users would periodically get a bizarre error, but never on their old hardware. Main difference seems to be core 2 duo on the new laptops.
Anyway, this error causes a total reset of the internal windows database system used by the app and then there's an error in msvcr80.dll. Is there a way I can tell from the data below what routine went bad in that module? I could at least then tell the guy who guards the gates to tell the developer a little bit more. At this point the "guard" is convinced it is just because the dll is not the latest version. I think it is probably not that simple.
