1. De Vooruitzichten van het gebruik als Bewaarplaats van het Document

Als u wenst om het dossieronderzoek van Vensters ter sprake te brengen minimaliseer al uw vensters en pers F3. U kunt ook binnen een bepaalde omslag zoeken ook: open dat omslag omhoog in de Ontdekkingsreiziger van Vensters (de naam voor het programma dat wanneer u op „Mijn Documenten“ tweemaal klikt, „Mijn Computer“, enz.) opent en - u veronderstelde het - pers F3.

Het drukken F3 opent onderzoeksdialogen eveneens in veel andere programma's: in Internet Explorer opent het (en sluit) de verticale onderzoeksstaaf; in MS Outlook stelt het dialoog de van de „Geavanceerde Vondst open“. Try pressing F3 when using applications that have some sort of search facility.

In a similar vein, you can open up the find facility in many applications by holding down the Control ('Ctrl') key and pressing F. To explain the difference between search and find, consider that you will search for a web page and when you have opened it you can find text within it. In MS Word Ctrl + F opens the 'Find and Replace' dialog. As with F3, try it out in any program that has a find facility.

Of course some programmers use slightly different standards. For example in Firefox both F3 and Ctrl + F open the find word dialog at the bottom of the screen.

Who or what is your computer talking to right now? You may think that just because your web browser or email program is not running your PC is offline. Think again. If you have a broadband connection then the chances are it is constantly chattering away, sending and receiving data. Most of it is innocuous and your Firewall and security programs should block the really bad stuff but there’s a lot of other, sometimes mysterious communications going on in the background, which could be slowing your connection down, or maybe aeven malware sending your personal details to heaven knows where.

Here’s a way to find out what’s going on. Go to Run on the Start menu and type cmd then press OK and this will open a DOS like Command window. (more…)

I recently received the following via email. I responded, but never heard back. Hopefully the information will be of use to others...

Hi, Found your name on the web when I was looking at some stuff on slashdot and I thought maybe you might have a moment to point me in the right direction.
I have a custom app which I have zero access to in terms of the developer. When the app was run on new hardware, a few users would periodically get a bizarre error, but never on their old hardware. Main difference seems to be core 2 duo on the new laptops.
Anyway, this error causes a total reset of the internal windows database system used by the app and then there's an error in msvcr80.dll. Is there a way I can tell from the data below what routine went bad in that module? I could at least then tell the guy who guards the gates to tell the developer a little bit more. At this point the "guard" is convinced it is just because the dll is not the latest version. I think it is probably not that simple.

It does appear that the problem may lie in the version of MSVCR80.DLL you referenced. At least, getting this to an appropriate version
