De volgende versie van Mozilla Firefox, Gran met codenaam Paradiso, maar beter gekend als Firefox 3 nu gaat de eindfase van het testen met de versie van in Bèta 1 software It†™s nog een beetje vroeg voor dagelijks gebruik maar ontwikkelaars en geeks is welkom om het een testlooppas te geven, en helpt uit ijzer Mozilla om het even welke resterende insecten. A friend of mine was commenting today on a common scenario that a lot of us run into. When you’re actively working on a project, you often times have several tabs open in your browser solely related to that work: some API documentation, a couple versions of a site you are working on, a google spreadsheet, a project resource/status page, and things of that sort.

When you change gears to work on something else, you might have another entirely different set of pages that you keep open all the time. If you juggle several projects at the same time, it can be a nuisance (not to mention a waste of time) to constantly be closing and opening all those windows throughout the day. (more…)

Last week, security companies around the world spotted a new vulnerability in Mozilla Firefox which could allow the attackers to use a malicious JAR file to harm users’ computers. The security flaw is still there and moreover, it seems it affects most websites on the Internet including the super search giant Google. GnuCitizien wrote that Michal Zalewski from Google (you know, that famous hacker who joined Googleplex) required additional information about a potential exploitation over the company’s technologies. In addition, beford.org discovered a way to steal the Gmail contact list using a malicious JAR file especially created to take advantage of the Firefox vulnerability. (more…)

Firefox with its default configuration does not integrate well with kde . Now you will see how to setup firefox as default client in the following two cases

1 ) Clicking on a email link in a webpage should create a new email with kmail.

Start firefox and type the following in the url bar: about:config

A big table with configuration options will appear in the main browser window.
Look for the item network.protocol-handler.external.mailto and make sure its value is set to true. The value is the right most piece of text in the row for that item. Right-click on that line and select “toggleâ€� in the pop-up menu to toggle if necessary. (more…)
