Five Efficiency Tips For Microsoft Outlook
Although small businesses seem to be gravitating towards web based e-mail, such as Gmail, Hotmail, and Yahoo! Mail, good old Microsoft Outlook still has a faithful following among those who want offline access to their e-mail. This week I have a few tips for exploiting Outlook’s features for working more efficiently.
1. Use Outlook As A Document Repository
You can store documents in any Outlook folder. That’s right! And you don’t have to attach the document to the mail message; you can store it just as you would in a desktop folder. To store a document in Outlook, follow these steps: (more…)

Firefox Security Flaw Affecting Gmail’s Users
Last week, security companies around the world spotted a new vulnerability in Mozilla Firefox which could allow the attackers to use a malicious JAR file to harm users’ computers. The security flaw is still there and moreover, it seems it affects most websites on the Internet including the super search giant Google. GnuCitizien wrote that Michal Zalewski from Google (you know, that famous hacker who joined Googleplex) required additional information about a potential exploitation over the company’s technologies. In addition, beford.org discovered a way to steal the Gmail contact list using a malicious JAR file especially created to take advantage of the Firefox vulnerability. (more…)

How to Manage Your Gmail Storage Size
Recently, the Mountain View company Google received a new service which allows users to buy additional storage size for their account but is currently compatible only with Gmail and Picasa Web Albums. Because the purchased storage space addresses the Google account, you can use it for any service you need. But there is a problem. Some of the users are interested in using the Gmail storage size, the one offered for free by Google, for Picasa Web Albums or vice-versa. Well, that’s simply not possible. Google permits the users to share the storage size only if they bought additional space so if you want to split the Gmail storage in order to use it for Picasa photos, you can’t.
“Paid storage is designed to give you more space across all Google services that support extra storage (currently Picasa Web Albums and Gmail). If you run out of free storage in either service, you’ll automatically use the space you’ve purchased to store more pictures and messages up to your new storage limit,” Google explains in the Gmail FAQ. Five Gmail Secrets Revealed by Google
Gmail is surely one of the top mail technologies currently available on the Internet because it offers large storage capacity, powerful spam filters and several other features that attract a considerable number of consumers. Obviously, all the users of the service customize it by their own needs using all kinds of tricks. But there are also numerous secrets that are able to improve the Gmail performance and enhance the functionality of the technology. Bill Kee, Associate Product Marketing Manager, tried to present 5 of them in a single post published on the official blog of the company.
First of all, the Mail Fetcher function allows you to customize the “From” field that represents your identity (the sender). If you didn’t know, Mail Fetcher enables you to configure up to 5 POP3 accounts in order to receive the messages straight into the Gmail interface. Because of that, you can also send mail with these accounts so, depending on the configuration, your identity or the “From” field is also changed. (more…)
