The guys who hang out with me on Ventrilo recently got hooked on a PC game called DEFCON. After they explained it all to me, I had to try it for myself. The demo is fully-functioning and free! It has excellent graphics, and a stellar soundtrack that you can now buy on iTunes. DEFCON is definitely addictive, and a lot of fun.
Wirelesspacket explained the premise of the game. Remember the movie WarGames with Matthew Broderick? In the movie, the character Joshua showed the continents and the missiles being launched. This game is almost the same exact interface. Not only are there nuclear weapons, there are fighter planes, radar, and you have to build your own air bases and defenses. You must defend your homeland while trying to destroy the other areas.
According to the game manufacturer:
It’s Global Thermonuclear War, and nobody wins. But maybe — just maybe — you can lose the least.
