Internet Explorer que despliega 7

Internet Explorer 7 está actualmente el browser más usado por todo el mundo, según la estadística hecha disponible por Net Applications. Lanzado sobre hace un año para Windows XP SP2 y el servidor 2003 de Windows, el browser ha crecido en el día diciembre de 2007 a una cuota de mercado de 40.61%. Con el final de 2007 también viene el dethroning del Internet Explorer 6, de la posición dominante respecto al mercado del browser. IE6 explica actualmente 35.18%, y es el segundo browser usado en el mundo, seguido cerca Firefox 2.0 en el tercer lugar con 15.80%.

Microsoft no es nada más que un espectador simple en el espectáculo de Firefox de Mozilla de lanzamientos. Mozilla ha entregado Firefox 2.0.0.10, una actualización de la estabilidad anunciada desde la semana pasada. Microsoft Tweaks 64-bit Internet Explorer

While completely failing to breathe a single word on Internet Explorer 8, Microsoft is still focused on the copy of the browser that originally shipped with Windows XP. In this context, the Redmond company announced that it is introducing an update to Internet Explorer 6 running on the 64-bit editions of Windows XP and Windows Server 2003, in order to alter the browser’s behavior when managing ActiveX controls.

The 18.9 MB update dubbed WindowsServer2003.WindowsXP-KB912945-x64-ENU.exe is up for grabs since November 13, 2007. “This update includes minor changes to how Internet Explorer handles some web pages that use Microsoft ActiveX controls. Certain webpages will require users to manually activate Active X controls by clicking on it or using the TAB key and ENTER key. This update contains all previously released security updates,” Microsoft informed in the overview of the release. (more…)

The New Firefox 2.0.0.9 Plays Well with Windows Vista

A new version of Firefox is available for download. On October 19, Mozilla made available an update to its open source browser, taking the version build from 2.0.0.7 to 2.0.0.8. The version numbers are not a clear indication of the evolution between the two Firefox variants. According to Mozilla, over 200 issues impacting the Firefox browser were addressed by the 2.0.0.8 update. However, at the same time, the extent of the modifications introduced by Firefox 2.0.0.8 also affected the functionality of the browser regressing a handful of aspects.

On October 22, Mozilla promised to update the Firefox 2.0.0.8 update in order to take care of the problems generated by the refresh. Internet Explorer 7 Is an Open Door for Attacks

Internet Explorer 7 on Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 is nothing short of an open door for attacks. Microsoft informed that it is currently investigating a remote code execution vulnerability in various versions of XP and Windows Server 2003 running Internet Explorer 7. The Redmond company added that Windows Vista users are safe, although the operating system comes with IE7 built in by default. Windows XP SP2, XP Professional x64 Edition, Professional x64 Edition SP2; Windows Server 2003 SP1 and SP2, Windows Server 2003 x64 Edition and SP2 and Windows Server 2003 with SP1 for Itanium-based Systems and Windows Server 2003 with SP2 for Itanium-based Systems are all vulnerable to the security flaw, provided they are running IE7. The vulnerability is related to the way the Windows operating system handles Uniform Resource Identifiers (URIs). (more…)
