Internet Explorer 7 é atualmente o browser o mais usado worldwide, de acordo com os statistics feitos disponíveis por Rede Aplicação. Liberado sobre um ano há para Windows XP SP2 e o usuário 2003 de Windows, o browser cresceram até à data de dezembro 2007 a uma parte de mercado de 40.61%. Com o fim de 2007 vem também dethroning do Internet Explorer 6, da posição dominante no mercado do browser. IE6 esclarece atualmente 35.18%, e é o segundo - a maioria de browser usado no mundo, seguido perto Firefox 2.0 no terceiro lugar com 15.80%.

Entretanto, apesar da evolução consistente isso Microsoft está entregando com Internet Explorer 7, no contraste a IE6, usuários têm não fazem exame de um brilho imediato à versão a mais atrasada do browser do IE. (mais…)

Hoje decano Hachamovitch do general gerente do Internet Explorer afixado about an important milestone in the development of the next version of Internet Explorer, IE8. As of last week – 12 December, to be exact – the latest build correctly renders the Acid2 browser test in IE8 standards mode. As Dean points out, this is just one of many milestones ahead for Internet Explorer 8 and we can expect to hear more as further progress is made.

IE8 will be at MIX08, with a beta release due sometime in the first half of 2008.

Another update to the IE6 and IE7 Virtual PC images that the IE Team at Microsoft makes available is available for download in the Microsoft Download Center. The previous ones expired on 2007-12-07; these expire on 2008-04-01.

Internet Explorer and Firefox are in a constant race for both the lion’s share of the browser market and for the top dog position when it comes down to which of the two products is more locked down from a security perspective. In terms of audience Internet Explorer has little contest from Firefox, although the open source browser has increased substantially its foothold on the market growing its share to approximately 15% at the end of October 2007, according to data from Net Applications. In contrast, IE accounts for the largest install base with 78%.

Security is a different matter altogether and a tad more difficult to measure up. The fact of
the matter is that the end goal of delivering top user protection is a combination of code quality and lack of vulnerabilities in the default design, along with an absent threat environment. (more…)

There is a bug in Windows XP that causes the toolbars in Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer (the thing that opens when you double-click on My Computer etc) to disappear.
