Uninstall programs from your Windows Mobile Device

How-to uninstall Windows Mobile programs using WMDC.
Removing software from our devices using WMDC is as easy as it should be. All we need to do is connect our device using either USB or Bluetooth.
Click “Programs and Services”
Click “more>>”
Click “Add/Remove Programs”
You will be presented with a screen similar to the one below.
Addremove programs
All you need to do now is ensure that the tickbox next to the program you want to uninstall is unticked.
Once you press OK, your computer will leave the programs with ticks next to them and uninstall the programs which do not have ticks on them. This does not remove the software from your computer. You will need to remove the software through Windows Control Panel to achieve a full uninstall, or run the corresponding Windows Uninstaller.
As the programs are all fairly small, I generally leave them on my computer in case I decide I want to reinstall the software on my device at a later date. Changing the tickbox again will reinstall the program.

Download Windows Mobile Network Analyzer PowerToy

Overview

Network Analyzer for Windows Mobile runs network utilities, for example ping and ipconfig, on a Windows Mobile powered device. Network Analyzer for Windows Mobile facilitates the troubleshooting of network connectivity issues. You can extend the harness. You can add user-defined tests (DLLs) to the list of tests to be executed. An xml input file defines the list of tests to execute. You can use Network Analyzer to send information about network traffic to a .cap file. You can then view the .cap file with the Network Monitor tool or the Ethereal tool. See the readme file below for more information.

You can download from here.

Windows Mobile: Add a Signature to Outgoing Outlook Mobile E-mails

Windows Mobile devices aren’t great for sending emails from. We make our emails short because typing in anything longer than a sentence or two can become very time consuming and uncomfortable.
There is nothing wrong with entering in a short email, but it can look very brief, to the extent of appearing offensive to someone opening it up in a desktop email client.
It is a good idea to pad it out, or add in some useful information so that the reader has a clear idea who has sent them the email.
To make it happen:
  • Tap Messaging
  • Tap Menu
  • Tap Options
  • Tap Signatures
You can now create a signature to be sent with your emails. You can pad it out as much as you want, but it is a good idea to at least sign your name so that you don’t need to enter it in each time.
You can even add a signature to SMS/MMS messages from this window, but due to character restrictions, it probably isn’t worth doing.
Unfortunately there is no support for HTML code, though many email clients will place links as they recognise that they are an email or website address.

Hack Your Windows Mobile Registry

In all Microsoft operating systems, there is a registry which loads as your computer starts up. The windows registry lets the operating system know what settings to to start your computer up with. Most settings on our computers are stored in the registry somewhere, we just need to know what to change to achieve what we want.

Windows Mobile devices also have a registry like all other Microsoft operating systems. We can customize many of the defaults on our devices to suit our needs. The structure is very similar to the Windows Registry structure, so if you are familiar with it, you will find this just as easy. If you have not yet delved into a registry, you will find this quite tricky.

This article will cover some of the changes we are able to make to our devices, through our devices registry.

Find a Registry Editor:
There are a number of free register editors available for Windows Mobile Devices. We have the option of editing the registry from either a desktop computer or the device itself. I have not tested out any of the programs below extensively but I can confirm they will perform any of the changes
