Web-mail users and bloggers know too well the folly of inputting text into a browser window. It’s very easy to close out a session while composing a message, lose everything, and be left scrambling to retype the e-mail or post. Firefox offers a fix. By tweaking the agile browser’s settings, previous sessions are easily restored, complete with form entries.

From an open Firefox window:

* Click Tools
* Scroll down to Options
* Select the Main tab

The IE Tab extension lets you switch between Firefox and IE rendering. Once installed, I had no trouble using the IE Tab add-on to run Microsoft Update. According to Mozilla’s Web site, the IE Tab works with Firefox versions 1.5 through 3.0a5. I used it with 2.0.0.6.

To install the IE Tab, go to the add-ons site using the above link. Choose Install Now. The installer will restart Firefox when finished or prompt you to do so before the changes will take effect.

To add the IE Tab button to your Firefox Toolbar, right-click the toolbar and choose Customize. Drag the IE Tab icon and drop it where you want it. When clicked, the IE Tab button will swap rendering engines. (more…)

Online videos (mpeg and some wmv files) were not playing in Firefox under Ubuntu Edgy in my desktop.The problem could be mplayer for Firefox installed and totem for Firefox plugin also installed .First You need to uninstalled the totem plugin from the terminal using the following command sudo apt-get remove totem-mozilla

Now you need to reinstalled mplayer plugin for Mozilla and now your mplayer should work in firefox.
