Tiny Compressors for Better PC Cooling to be launched

The temperature levels in most computers today have a significant impact on a PC’s performance. We know of the usual auxiliary fans required to serve as added ventilation but in some cases, the proper cooling for these chips are not enough. Cooling is important and while the fans are trying hard to negate the rising heat levels from using internal chips and processors, Purdue University has reportedly developed a tiny refrigeration system that will surely help a lot as far as CPU temperature levels is concerned.

This is indeed a welcome development considering that many people are forever relying on additional cooling systems for their CPU or laptops.

“Traditionally, you use a fan to blow air on a chip — room temperature air,” said Garimella. “If I could push chilled air onto the chip, then I get a lot more cooling.” The devices are designed to dramatically increase the amount of heat that can be removed from a computer, he added.

The system pumps refrigerants through tiny compressors and tubing. The technology could be integrated into a microprocessor, or it could replace a computer’s traditional air-cooled heat sink.

The new cooling technique will probably be used first in gaming systems and then

Humanitarian Issues to be Resolved by Computers

We have heard on how computers have been pegged to change most issues in everyday living and today we are on the brink of seeing them resolve humanitarian issues through the World Community Grid.

Apparently this has to do a lot with research. Computers are known to be your best bet towards soliciting information through the web and compiled programs through optical storage and for sure this will help enhance the educational level that most people are longing for.

The issue normally stems from the fact that technological investments are pricey. It would take a good Samaritan to make it all work. But today, thanks to the efforts of IBM and the VOA, this stepping stone is within reach. Along with millions of volunteers to make this work, do not be surprised to see another point for technology to the good guys!

The IBM corporation started the World Community Grid more than two years ago. The company continues to provide advice and support to the project. Stanley Litow heads community relations for IBM. He says anyone in the world with a computer connected to the Internet can join the project.

Volunteers download a program from the World Community Grid Web site. Every so

Windows XP SP3 on AMD Chips Showing Problems

Applying the patches and service packs issues by Microsoft Operating Systems are usually seen to be solutions to improve and safeguard Windows users but apparently there are issues surrounding the type of processor that is in use. If you use an Intel based processors, chances are you will not be having much trouble installing and rebooting your system. The real problem really exists when AMD processors are being used and much of this lies in the configuration.

Apparently, to be able to adhere towards the proper specifications, some tweaks have to be done to the main processor of AMD based units to accept the new add-ons and patches offered periodically. Normally, you will have issue after applying the updated patches and this becomes a cause for consideration on whether people should install the service packs or not.

Ideally, installing these patches is a good way to be able to safeguard your computer from threats around the web. But in some cases like this AMD issue, it would be best to be open to proper installation and compatibility issues. In short, as a user you should be able to research and find proper troubleshooting tips so that you can avoid messing

Vanity Table with Built-in LCD and Desktop Computer

We all know that everyone is going compact or mobile these days but despite the run made by modern technology, you have to look at retro designs a bit and see what they have to offer. Apparently, you will not be the type to use vanities as a means of serving as your computer storage but when you integrate and LCD monitor into it along with a standard desktop computer, eyes are bound to roll!

While most people are talking about how to modernize homes with the usual computer table designs, the Vanity PC design is something traditional PC users are bound to love. Why? For one thing, it blends well with contemporary and modern furniture, reaching the extent of becoming deceiving since people are too busy looking for ways to copy and secure the new roads of technology and what it has to offer.

The Vanity PC is not as high-tech as the XYZ Computer Desk, MILK desk, and the Sync Desktop, but it does score well with its ingenious make and glossy wood finish. With the Vanity PC, you can hide your computer and all of its wires and cables in an elegant piece of furniture. In short, the

When will Microsoft REALLY Stop Windows XP Distribution?

If you are a long-time Windows XP user, you have to wonder when the sales for this Microsoft operating software will cease to be sold. The last we heard was that Windows XP will stop selling by June but apparently thanks to the Netbook, there seems to be an extension of sorts. This desktop PC from Microsoft is set to come out this August and if that should happen, how can Microsoft stop production if they are offering a desktop PC that runs only with Windows XP?

Everything is geared towards pushing all Microsoft users to shift to their new OS, the Microsoft Vista. If you look at it, this new installment is applicable only to new computers with higher specs. For old PC users, you will notice that the preference is still the Windows XP series since other than using up lesser resources, they cannot afford to upgrade to the new PCs in the market today and just because Microsoft say so, it does not follow that they should buy new hardware as well.

Add to the fact that people will make do with what they have. They still have their original CDs (assuming they are licensed) and with that,

What Would you do with a 640 Gigabyte Hard Disk?

For some, the larger the storage, the better it is for them. This means more files and the luxury of storing large files like audio and video files can be accommodated. One thing that people have noticed these days is that the usual 40 to 160 gigabyte hard disks don’t last long. Attribute this to the fact that people have gone crazy placing or downloading videos into their computer, not wanting to burn them for fear that they may be damaged once they are transferred to the usual optical drives.

With that said, Verbatim has introduced a 640 gigabyte hard disk into the market. Wow! That is times 4 of the last maximum hard disk of 160 gigabyte and it makes you wonder on what to put in it. Imagine the number of videos you can place there. Indeed it does sound like a good development but do remember, maintenance may be an issue later on.

One thing about large storage is that if you don’t take care of them, they may crash and leave you weeping in tears with all the files you have in them. 160 gigabyte hard disks are hard enough so what the more if you
