The new version of the Windows Live OneCare service is being made available today, running on both 32- and 64-bit Windows Vista systems (32-bit Windows XP SP2 is also supported).

We built OneCare because we know that most homes have more than a single computer (surely not news to you if you're a reader of this blog), with PC security and maintenance being needs consistently expressed by both home users and small business owners. Last week, security companies around the world spotted a new vulnerability in Mozilla Firefox which could allow the attackers to use a malicious JAR file to harm users’ computers. The security flaw is still there and moreover, it seems it affects most websites on the Internet including the super search giant Google. GnuCitizien wrote that Michal Zalewski from Google (you know, that famous hacker who joined Googleplex) required additional information about a potential exploitation over the company’s technologies. The Microsoft Security Bulletin Advance Notification for November 2007 just came out and Vista not be receiving any updates. Windows Server 2003 will be getting an ‘Important’ update, and Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 will both be receiving a ‘Critical’ update.
