When Thinner Becomes a Problem

If you think the smaller and thinner desktops are a distinction to have then you better consider the aftermath as well. Computers and gadgets can break down to and if a certain part such a chip or diode suddenly gets fried, be ready with your cash to have it repaired. Sure there will be the usual warranty stuff but in some rare cases, you will be surprised that these would not be covered by the warranty for the advanced desktop you purchased. Bummer as it may seem, that is a reality.

The probability of experiencing such a mishap is remote but you cannot discount it from happening. It may stem from accidentally means or through improper handling especially when you move it from one place to another. Overuse is another area for consideration as room temperature levels may play a vital role in determining how long such a device can hold.

There is no doubt most gadgets are becoming thinner these days and apparently it will all come to a point where we all love them due to space considerations. But the technology for manufacturing these things does not come cheap and today, there is no telling to what extent these things may result in. You just have to be ready in case they go beyond the traditional repairs by authorized service centers.

This is not to scare most innovative seeking consumers. It is a warning that with technology comes a price tag on it. You have to be ready for it or your PC will lay around inoperable. And this is something you don’t want to see, especially after spending a fortune!

PC Tablets Invading the Desktop Demands

The trend in the market today as far as buying computers is going miniature. We have seen the introduction of new miniature desktops to which the demand for them is getting higher. But should this be a cause for alarm for most desktop manufacturers? Apparently there is a difference but what are the chances that the traditional desktop user would turn towards these compact computers for a change?

The answer lies on where a computer would be used and who will actually use it. For example, in the modern offices of today, it is highly unlikely you will see the traditional employee working with tablet PCs. Also, for the hardworking programmers and developers, the use of desktops is still the way to go considering that they need visualization and better control when creating programs.

The same holds true for graphics designers who are sure to prefer desktops when creating images. In all, it all boils down to use and power of the PC. Tablets can be used for navigation or perhaps entertainment. They are not designed for professional undertaking and that is something we all know. While we cannot discount tablet PCs from advancing through the years, who knows how modern computing will be by that time?

Hence, PC tablets should not even be considered by the modern IT personnel for professional use. The best that they can offer is migration of finished documents or presentation files for easy handling. But when it comes to actual work, desktops are still the bet for working wiser.

Monitors with Touch Screen Technology

We have seen a lot of computers that offer touch screen technology. In fact today, we see most of them from the small gadgets such as the iPhone where people can choose between using a stylus or their fingers to navigate to any page or part of their device.

As far as desktops are concerned, there are some that use touch screen technology. A lot of them are used in the malls where interface to allow consumers to get information and know where they are just exactly can be done easily through these designated kiosks. But this is the commercial sector and now it makes you wonder if the same technology would be soon seen to the normal home.

Other than taking out the need for the use of mice and trackballs, the idea of having touch screen monitors does indeed look tempting. Imagine the ease and the techie part of using touch screen technology and you will perhaps be excited to know when it would come to be. While there are some who use add-ons to the current crop of default monitors in the market, there is no actual monitor to date that has been offered to the private consumers. Apparently the issue here is the feasibility of demand and affordability.

Not all people would be willing to spend that much on something that can be done using old style technology. Knowing how sophisticated this may be, these new pieces of computer are sure to cost a fortune. But while we are at it, who knows when some generic brand may come out? Similar to new technology, they are bound to come out expensive at first but cheaper when other manufacturers come out with their own brands.

Reliance on Computers

As far as technology is concerned, it would be an understatement if we would not admit that for most, both personal and business, we have been overly reliant on computer use. Too reliant that while we find computers as a big lifesaver, we forget to go further when treating certain issues such as backups and computer maintenance.

Computers make our life easier. That is a fact. But it also remains that for these devices to be able to work properly and efficiently, human intervention and responsibilities still remain. Here are some of the forgotten human responsibilities that account for human errors on computers these days:

1. Periodic Backup of data and system resources
2. Scandisk utilization
3. Defragmentation of Hard Drives
4. Proper Uninstallation of Programs
5. Spring Cleaning of CPU chips

These are things that are not so hard to do. But people are either afraid to try or lazy do them. Both are really unacceptable. The fact remains that computers do not have a mind of their own. They can perform certain routines but that will not happen if they are not programmed or scheduled. In short, human intervention is still imminent. Without it, a computer will sit there and do nothing but gather dust.

These days, if you want technology to work for you, you have to do your part in making it happen. A small effort will not hurt. And it is not even that complicated to do.

Computer Freaks will Always Want Higher Specs

For some reason, computer geeks want the top of the line desktops and with the works. Normally, there is no reason for it. They just want to be equipped with desktops with high-end peripherals such as video cards, processors and memory chip modules. Perhaps one reason here is that with the vast array of software and things they can do with a computer desktop, they want to be a step ahead.

Such is a logical reason for a computer wiz that spends most of his time behind the keyboard. Programming, image editing or simple blogging for that matter are the potential reason that most people consider. It may be an overkill for most people but the level of satisfaction for people who want to get a lot from computers is a given in this modern age.

Computers and peripherals change as fast as technology evolved. We know that something new is coming out everyday and once that happens, old parts suddenly find themselves needing a price drop. For people, this area for consideration is something they don’t consider. All they care about is getting the latest parts at all cost and regardless of how much they would be.

Call it fickle-minded but the thing is, computer requirements differ and it would depend on how well versed a computer owner would be. High-end or not, practicality issues are certainly shelved most of the time. It just doesn’t exist in the mind of the advanced computer desktop user.

The Role of Computers in Healthcare

We can see the vast improvement of technology in healthcare these days. Other than speeding up the diagnostic procedures, computer aids have helped provide accurate and faster analysis of tests and procedures pertinent towards being able to tell what is exactly wrong with a person who feels something wrong with him.

We see computers in the medical world today. Ranging from the usual laboratory procedures to the advanced imaging needed by radiological services, pinpoint accuracy is what computers are able to provide. Some of them don’t even have to be the high end ones at that. You would be surprised that most of these computers make use of old computers like the first storm of Pentium computers.

A lot of this is due to the fact that not all programs used by medical technology require a Windows platform. Most of them can make do with the standard DOS OS and are usually compiled with old school programs such as FoxPro. Though these programs may sound outdated, it is how they are able to provide medical reports to physicians and specialists that is important. Today, you can get results in an hour rather than waiting a whole day to know what the test results were able to show.

Technology in the medical field is sure to advance all the more. With computer technology fast showing what it can do to assist us, it should not be surprising how far we can achieve more towards monitoring and safeguarding our lives. And we have computers and peripherals to thank for all of it.
