This evening I decided to generate a report on my main desktop PC for the first time and see what it says. To have a System Health Report generated:

Paste Special In Microsoft Word

Once I got out of automated mode, I woke up and realized that I often use Paste Special with unformatted text when working in MS Word. It became a habit like CTRL+V, CTRL+X, and CTRL+C. To do Paste Special without formatting, I clicked CTRL+V to paste, selected the Paste Special icon (smart tag) and selected Keep Text Only. Another way to do a Paste Special is to click Edit, Paste Special and select your preference.

Why do all that when I can create a macro and put a button on the toolbar? That’s exactly what I did. It took a few days to get the hang of using the button instead of going the old-fashioned route. I can’t remember where I found the tip and searching for it didn’t jog my memory.

ITsVISTA Tip 63: Uninstall Vista SP1 Beta

TipsA newer version of the Vista SP1 is rumored to be available soon, but if you’ve installed the original SP1 Beta release, it sounds like you’ll first have to uninstall it (or maybe you just don’t want SP1 installed anymore). In the past, service packs weren’t always uninstallable, but thankfully that’s not the case with this one. As it turns out, uninstalling a service pack takes at least as long as installing it, so follow these steps, and get yourself a drink for the wait.

  1. Click the Start menu and choose Control Panel
    Choose 'Control Panel'
  2. Choose Uninstall a Program from the Programs section of the Control Panel
    Uninstall a Program
  3. On the left, choose View Installed Updates
    View Installed Updates
  4. In the list of updates, look for Service Pack for Microsoft Windows (KB936330) and select it
    Service Pack for Microsoft Windows
  5. Choose Uninstall.
    Uninstall
  6. Confirm that you want
