WSUS et frais supplémentaires finals

Beaucoup d'utilisateurs finals n'auront jamais entendu parler de WSUS, mais une minorité vocale sera intéressée par cette entrée de blog. Actuellement, si votre ordinateur est administré par WSUS 2.5, vous ne pouvez pas installer les frais supplémentaires finals. Tellement que se passe-t-il ?

D'abord, pour ceux pas dans le savoir, WSUS est Services de mise à jour de serveur de Windows, une technologie qui lui permet à des administrateurs de déployer le dernier produit de Microsoft met à jour ordinateurs à leurs utilisateurs les', ou le bloc les met à jour ne veulent pas des utilisateurs à l'installation. Si vous êtes un utilisateur à la maison, c'est WSUS très peu probable est dans votre maison (et toi sachez si elle est). Cependant, si vous courez Windows au travail, alors votre compagnie a pu avoir déployé WSUS.

Si vous voulez voir si votre ordinateur est administré par WSUS, il est facile. Ouvrez le panneau de commande de mise à jour de Windows et regardez la ligne du texte qui vous commence « reçoit des mises à jour :  » Si le texte ensuite qui « est contrôlé par votre interface gestionnaire » puis WSUS est en activité, autrement, pas.

Ce tout est très technique, et pourrait retentir assez lointain au loin des frais supplémentaires finals et finals de Windows, mais il n'est pas. Par exemple, un certain nombre de petites entreprises sont choix final pour son ensemble complet de dispositif

Tout en regardant notre transitoire d'utilisation de largeur de bande après que nous ayons signalé papier peint, J'ai été rappelé une conversation cela Alex et j'ai eu au sujet du Vidéo finale nous avons signalé il y a quelques semaines. Vous avez vu la version finale du déploiement (centre de soapbox + de téléchargement), mais il y a une histoire drôle derrière la façon dont nous avons décidé d'employer ces technologies aux lesquelles je ne peux pas résister le partage.

Les versions que nous avons signalées, qui sont déjà beaucoup plus petits que la vidéo crue originale, sommes toujours le mb environ 100. Alex, puisqu'il était celui qui a mis toute heure dans capturer le contenu de la vidéo, était très désireux de le faire vivent. Il a pensé que la manière la plus rapide serait d'employer la nouvelle section du téléchargement de cet emplacement. Et naturellement il a raison. Mais cette suggestion a mené à la conversation suivante.

Erik : Il n'y a aucune manière que nous devrions faire cela.
Alex : Pourquoi pas ?

Erik: Well, effectively. But not for free, we’ll start paying for it.

Windows DreamScene is currently available only as a preview version, but many of you have chosen to install it. In recognition of your interest, we accelerated our schedule to release a Content Pack that contains four video backgrounds, which are now available on Windows Update.

The four videos are:

• A field of thistle, with a bee gathering pollen
• The rushing water of a forest stream
• A streetlamp reflected in a puddle, with softly falling rain
• Orange wisps flowing in a computer-generated scene

We’re offering these video backgrounds only to users who have installed the Windows DreamScene Preview. However, the Content Pack will continue to be available when the final version of DreamScene is released, so don’t worry about installing the preview just so you can obtain them. The preview version is an unsupported release; it is not appropriate for users who are uncomfortable with installing prerelease software. If you’ve installed the Windows DreamScene Preview, click Check for updates in Windows Update to see the Content Pack, which is offered as an Ultimate Extra.

Check out the download section. It was looking empty, so we created something special just for Ultimate users. We got the awesome graphics artists on the Windows Experience team to create unique static wallpapers for your desktop. They gave us two compelling images that we’re offering to you in three resolutions.

We think the images cover the gamut of displays. Even those of you with Ultimate-worthy 30-inch flat panel monitors will find something to fit your screen. The resolutions available include both 4:3 and widescreen versions.

Whether you don’t want to install the preview version of Windows DreamScene (that’s fine!), have a computer running Ultimate that doesn’t support Windows Aero, or just prefer backgrounds that don’t move, these images might be just the thing for you. Enjoy!

If you already have Windows Vista Ultimate installed, then you already know that we have released our first Ultimate Extras. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, we have some “customer love” for you. Windows DreamScene is in its final testing phase and we have made a pre-release version available to you through Windows Update.

This is the Extra that provides the functionality for you to select videos as your Windows desktop background, as demonstrated at CES. The new video feature requires a Windows Vista Ultimate-based computer that supports Windows Aeroâ„¢, but this Extra also offers new positioning options for all Windows Vista Ultimate-based computers, for both video and still images: new options that allow you to fit an image to your screen while preserving aspect ratio. In non-technical terms, this means you can fill your screen with an image of your cat, dog, child, or parent without distorting him or her like a fun-house mirror. You can find more information on our website, and several team members will be writing about Windows DreamScene in their blogs.

The fine print: We want to repeat that the final release is still to come. In Windows Update, this pre-release version is called Windows DreamScene Preview to highlight that this is not the final release. This release may not be appropriate for all users.
