Η εγκατάσταση προεπιλογής Vista παραθύρων ζυγίζει μέσα σε περίπου 8 ΜΒ. Στην πραγματικότητα, το πιό πρόσφατο λειτουργικό σύστημα της Microsoft δεν θα εγκαταστήσει ακόμη και με λιγότερο από 15 ΜΒ του διαστήματος διαθέσιμου στο σκληρό δίσκο. Αυτό ισχύει και για low-end και για τις high-end εκδόσεις της πλατφόρμας. Μια πλήρης Vista εγκατάσταση θα λάβει τουλάχιστον 40 φορές περισσότερο διάστημα σκληρών δίσκων έναντι 200 ΜΒ των WINDOWS.95 και πέντε φορές περισσότερο από 1.5 ΜΒ παραθύρων XP. Μέρος του λόγου για τον οποίο Vista αγκαλιάζει τόσο πολύ διάστημα ακίνητων περιουσιών σκληρών δίσκων είναι το γεγονός ότι το λειτουργικό σύστημα φέρνει στον πίνακα έναν μεγάλο αριθμό ενσωματωμένων διοικητικών εργαλείων που στέλνουν εξ ορισμού με την πλατφόρμα.

Πλαίσιο, ο όρος που κρύβεται σε αυτό το, δεν είναι εξ ολοκλήρου ακριβής. Οι προηγμένοι χρήστες και οι διοικητές συστημάτων δεν έχουν κανένα πρόβλημα που ανακαλύπτει και που χρησιμοποιεί τα διοικητικά εργαλεία Vista. Αλλά συγχρόνως, ένας μέσος χρήστης θα μπορούσε να περάσει δεξιά από τους, ακριβώς λόγω του χαμηλού ίχνους τους στο ύφασμα του λειτουργικού συστήματος, δεδομένου ότι έχουν απλά έναν τρόπο να πάνε από ουσιαστικά ατεκμηρίωτος και απαρατήρητος. Αλλά αυτό δεν σημαίνει ότι τα εργαλεία δεν είναι εκεί, απαιτεί ακριβώς λίγο σκάψιμο κάτω από την επιφάνεια.

Μέτρα που λαμβάνουν πριν από να τρέξει ένα πρόγραμμα τοπικά

Ο καθένας ξέρει ότι πρίν τρέχετε ένα πρόγραμμα μεταφορτώσατε από τον καθαρό, πρέπει

1. Κάνετε την έρευνά σας (έλεγχος έξω ποιοι άνθρωποι λένε για το λογισμικό στις ομάδες google κ.λπ.)

2. Διαβάστε το EULA (τέλος - συμφωνία αδειών χρηστών) με τη βοήθεια Eulalyzer Javacool.

3. Μεταφορτώστε από μια εμπιστοσύνη που η αντάξια πηγή, ελέγχει τη φήμη περιοχών χρησιμοποιώντας τις υπηρεσίες όπως SiteAdvisor (ή ελεύθερες εναλλακτικές λύσεις)

4. Scan the executable with not just your local antivirus but also get second and third options with various Online malware Scanners, particularly multiple engine scanners like VirusTotal (or alternatives). Advanced users should scan with sandboxing type scanners like Anubis or PC Tools Threat Expert (or alternatives).

There’s a new Windows Vista Sidebar Gadget that brings Windows Live Maps to your desktop. Unlike the previous one, which did a great job of tracking traffic conditions in your area, this one is used to search Live Maps, even planning a route and getting directions right from the Gadget.
