Déployé : Windows Vista SP1 RC sur TOUS mes PCs

Aujourd'hui Nick annoncé la disponibilité du candidat de dégagement pour Windows Vista SP1. J'ai eu une chance d'obtenir la construction de RC de Windows Vista SP1 installée il y a quelques jours. J'ai décidé de rouler le RC dehors sur tous mes PCs qui présentent une variété de types et de scénarios de dispositif :

Mon PC principal d'ordinateur de bureau courant Windows Vista x64 final - contrôle.
Mon PC d'essai/travail courant des affaires de Windows Vista - contrôle.
Mon ordinateur portable 1500 de Dell Vostro courant Windows Vista final - contrôle.
Mon Samsung Q1 UMPC courant la prime de Windows Vista à la maison - contrôle.
Mon PC de Digital CableCard courant la prime de Windows Vista à la maison - contrôle.

En installant le RC sur mes PCs, j'ai fait une combinaison d'employer l'installateur et la mise à jour autonomes de Windows. Avant la marche à suivre pour installer le peu de SP1 RC, I a eu besoin la première fois d'uninstall le bêta peu SP1 d'abord. Les utilisateurs regardant pour installer Windows Vista SP1 RC auront besoin d'uninstall n'importe quelle version précédente de SP1 avant l'installation du RC de la mise à jour de Windows ou de l'installateur autonome. Avec la mise à jour de Windows, une fois que SP1 était téléchargé, une nouvelle série d'écrans m'indiquant au sujet de SP1 est apparue. La même série d'écrans de dialogue

Roulement dehors du serveur à la maison de Windows avec un serveur de HP MediaSmart

Ce week-end j'ai accompli roule-dehors de mon nouveau serveur de HP MediaSmart courant le serveur à la maison de Windows. J'ai commandé Serveur EX470 de HP MediaSmart. J'ai à l'origine eu le serveur à la maison de Windows fonctionner sur ma dimension E520 de Dell mais désarmé lui quand I a créé mon PC « final » . I really wanted to try out the experience the average consumer will have in purchasing a Windows Home Server and setting it up in their home. The HP MediaSmart Server seemed like the perfect choice in checking out the Windows Home Server experience.

The HP MediaSmart Server EX470 has the following specs:

Processor - AMD 1.8GHz 64-bit Sempron
Memory - 512MB DDR
Interfaces - 4 USB 2.0 Ports, 1 eSATA Port
Storage - 1 500GB SATA 7200 RPM

New and Updated Windows Home Server Information

There is some new content available that some of you may find interesting. The first of a series of Technical Briefs has been published, and a troubleshooting document to help people get the Windows Home Server Connector installed and configured on their home computers is now available. Additionally, the Windows Home Server Reviewer’s Guide has been updated with a little additional information, the new document version is 1.0a

Windows Home Server to be Released on October 1st

Microsoft’s norwegian audience marketing manager Stig Nerland made a blog post today confirming the release date for Windows Home Server.

Also the Windows Home Server web site has been updated with a new look and feel, and over the next few weeks additional content, links and other great stuff will be added to the site.

Release Date set for Windows Home Server

If thereâ€™s one computing server product every enthusiast and home-user should be excited about, that would not be Windows Server 2003 Datacenter Edition for Itanium-Based Systems, instead it should be Windows Home Server - codename â€œQâ€. Last month, WHS was released to manufacturing aiming for distribution â€œin the next couple of monthsâ€ and retail availability â€œthis fallâ€. The official availability date is now most likely Monday, August 27th 2007.

On the Microsoft Support Lifecycle website, a listing for Windows Home Server states the general availability date as 8/27/2007, and mainstream support retirement date as 10/9/2012. This however does not suggest OEM products such as those from HP will ship then - still expected to come â€œfallâ€ (September).

In this case, general availability most likely refers to the DVD package for system builders and other OEM channels. If youâ€™re one of those people who want to build your own Home Server, then you should consider bugging your local computer shop for a copy from August 27.
