How to Fix Low ‘Virtual Memory’ warning on Windows Vista

If your system gets a low 'Virtual Memory' warning on Windows Vista then it means that you have so many programs running at the same time and your temporary space in your hardisk called paging file is not enough. Virtual memory is use to compensate if your RAM is not enough.

1. Go to System Properties (Win Key + Pause/Break) > Advance System Settings > Advanced Tab > Performance > Advanced Tab > Virtual Memory

2. At the Top uncheck "Automatically Manage Paging Files" and select "Custom Size"

3. Now Select the drive that you want to change the paging file settings.

4. Now under Custom Size enter any size you want your pagefile to be.Both values can be of same size to make the size of pagefile.sys static.

5. To move the paging file to another drive, click on No paging file radio button, and click on Set button. Then select a different drive to set a new pagefile.sys with custom size or system managed size.

To disable paging file or virtual memory, simply set no paging files on all drives.

Windows Vista SP1 RTM or hotfix resolves DHCP IP address loss issues from “sleep or from hibernation” - KB956119

After you resume a Windows Vista-based DHCP client computer from sleep or from hibernation, the computer may lose its IP address. This problem may occur if there is more than one network interface on the computer, such as a real network interface and a virtual private network (VPN) interface.

Microsoft described the scenario reported by end users, revealing that it involves bridging a Vista-based DHCP machine with a remote VPN server via a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) VPN connection. According to the software company, cutting off the connection, and then placing in and subsequently resuming the PC from sleep or hibernation modes, will result in Vista losing the DHPC IP.

“In this scenario, the computer loses the IP address that was assigned to it by the DHCP server. Instead, an Automatic Private IP Addressing (APIPA) address, such as 169.254.0.1, is assigned to the client computer. Therefore, you cannot access some network resources,” Microsoft added.

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest SP1 for Windows Vista, or download supported hotfix from Microsoft.

The Windows Feature pack for Storage won’t be the first Vista feature pack. Microsoft has released, in addition to the previously mentioned optical feature pack, the Windows Vista Feature Pack for Wireless and the Windows Media Center TV Pack.

Feature packs are a way for Microsoft to get new features to users without making them wait for the next major Windows release. Unlike Service Packs, which typically are more about bug fixes than new features, feature packs are, as
