Τώρα χρειάζεστε ανοικτό Διαχείριση υπολογιστών το εργαλείο, εσείς μπορεί να κάνει αυτό με να φέρει επάνω το κιβώτιο ΤΡΕΞΙΜΑΤΟΣ από Win το κλειδί + το Ρ και έπειτα τύπος «mmc compmgmt.msc» χωρίς αποσπάσματα.

Windows Media Player in Vista has Automatic Updates enabled. This means that even if you never use Windows Media Player it still downloads the updates that come available for it, as soon as you have connection with the internet.

• You can disable this by going by changing the following registry key:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\WindowsMediaPlayer]

• Create a registry DWORD key named DisableAutoUpdate and give it a value of 1

Alternative method is to use the built in policy editor:

1. Click on ‘Start’ and in the ‘Start Search’ box type (without the quotes) “gpedit.msc”. When it shows up hit ‘Enter’
2. Now the group policy editor should be on screen, under ‘Computer Configuration’ expand ‘Administrative Templates’ - then expand ‘Windows Components - then scroll down to the ‘Windows media Player’ item and click on it to highlight it.
3. On the right side you should see a policy item named ‘Prevent Automatic Updates’ - right click on it and choose ‘Properties’.
4. Click the ‘Setting’ tab, then click the ‘Enabled’ radio button - then click ‘Apply’
5. There ya go, no more auto updates for Media Player.

Open regedit.exe through the start menu search or run box and browse down to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters

Find the EnableSuperfetch key on the right-hand pane, and change the value to one of these:

• Cache Boot Files Only: 1
• Cache Applications Only: 2
• Cache Everything (default): 3

You’ll have to restart your computer before this takes any effect. You could consider clearing out the \Windows\Prefetch folder after making this change to start with a fresh cache, but keep in mind that the next boot will probably be slower since Windows will have to cache everything again.

A Croatian college student has created a utility that installs a seriously stripped-down Windows Vista, saying the heft of Microsoft’s biggest desktop OS was just too big to believe. “Who can justify a 15GB operating system?” asked Dino Nuhagic, a fifth-year student from Split, a Croatian city on the Adriatic. Not Nuhagic, or the uncounted users who have turned to his creation, vLite. vLite is a free program that lets users pick and choose which Vista components, hotfixes, drivers and even language packs are installed, then builds a disk image that can be burned to a DVD for unattended installation of the operating system.

“Why did I do it? Well, it’s performance and work environment,” said Nuhagic when asked why he came up with vLite. “Performance, that’s easy to explain. The less things running, the more responsive the OS. But the environment part is where it gets down to personal preference.” Those preferences include options for leaving out virtually every component of Windows Vista, from the minor — such as the bundled screensavers — to the major, such as the firewall or Universal Plug and Play.
