Now what if you can not use ctrl+alt+del?

Seems this software/trojan has diabled my ability to use it.

Also can't reach configuration screen.

When i use ctr+alt+del under the safe mode the processes i need to kill are not in the list.

My brother had the blank blue Vista screen after End Task shutdown XL Guarder---this worked exactly to get Icons back--as Ozzy did. Then ran the Malwarebytes Anti-Makware to remove XL Guarder--I spent hours trying to find how to get Icons back. Thank you Ozzy!

I had the problem that XL Guard would prevent access to anything else. Here's a simple solution.

Open Windows Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Delete). Stop XL Guard using "End Task". Then click on "New Task" in the lower right corner.

In "Create New Task" type "explorer.exe" and clck O.K.

The desktop icons should come back and you should be able to launch programs and access files on the computer.

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware free from http://www.malwarebytes.org/products.php.

Install, update and run a scan with Malwarebytes. Follow the prompts and remove the infected files. You will probably need to reboot.

This worked for me.
